How much HP will a th350 handle? New motor!

I drag raced a ‘54 Chevy pickup with a 454 that would be a very conservative 500hp and never had an issue with my built TH350. Everyone said it wouldn’t last. But it did. 7.74 in the 1/8th at 90+ mph in a full bodied 54 Chevy truck with a cheap converter and no electronics.

Replacing ESC (electronic spark control) for standard HEI distributer

As far as I know, nothing else has to change. Just check your timing afterwards for initial timing and advanced and adjust if needed.

    Three on the tree

You need to check out what lugnutz has done on his blog. He walks you through a steering column rebuild on a 60’s C10. There are good instructions and plenty of pictures. Very helpful!! And he has documented quite a few other things as well that might help some of us...

Engine stumbles when you hit brakes even with vacuum for booster disconnected...

If you have some extra wire and crimp terminals, build yourself a jumper wire to test it. Just disconnect the B+ wire at the distributor, plug in your new wire and run it straight to your battery positive terminal. An alligator clip at the battery would be best. You will have to disconnect it to...

    ZZ502 w/ 6L80 swap

I believe all of the low hump automatic humps are not bolt in. They are part of the floor. And the hump where it meets the firewall is shaped differently. I don’t think it will be as easy as just bolting in a new hump. I know that’s the case with mid 60’s C10’s anyways. I’m almost positive...

    Best Replacement Fuel Tank?

I ordered mine from Orielly’s. I am pretty pleased with it.

    Bed swap

My 85 truck didn’t have sleeves. I am not the first owner, but the truck only has 50k+ original miles on it. I took the bed off myself a few months ago to install a new fuel tank and the sleeves weren’t there.

Cant find ac compressor brackets!! 454

I have never run AC on one but I have heard all kinds of horror stories trying to locate correct brackets and pulleys for big blocks. Maybe you could change the compressor to match your new brackets? It might be easier. But then your pulleys might not line up. I would probably try to locate a...

    Rebuilt $350 long block questions

You are right on the money. No plain 350 is worth sleeving twice. And 0.060 over is the end of the road for a street engine without block filler.

    Rebuilt $350 long block questions

Your experience, good or bad, could definitely give those of us on this forum some influence on their future business. I would post your final outcome here and the name of the business, if that’s allowed, on the forum. Even if it isn’t cool to post the name, you could post some good clues that...

    Rebuilt $350 long block questions

I’m not sure what your course of action should be. I would definitely ask them about sleeving two cylinders and still going 0.060” over. That’s new/different block territory. They know that. Unless you have something really unique, they shouldn’t have done it without asking you first. I might...

    Drink holder question?

I built a cup holder for my 64 C10. I bought a replacement cup holder for a Silverado off of Amazon, around $14, and cut out a steel plate the same width as the new holder and long enough to make it stick out far enough from the seat. I screwed it to the metal frame of the seat using self...

    Rebuilt $350 long block questions

It’s just my opinion, but anyone that would sleeve 2 cylinders in a run of the mill 350 block is a fool. I think you are getting shafted.

    700R4 and NP208 Removal

I’m going to have to pull my transmission out of my 85 K15 to replace a leaking seal and/o-ring. Do you guys separate the transmission from the transfer case and pull them separately? I plan to buy a transmission jack from Harbor Freight to do the job. I’ve always just used a floor jack but I...

    1984 Silverado K10

That’s an awesome truck. I love the fact that your dad bought it new and now you have it. If you have a child, please pass it along to them some day if you feel they will appreciate it. I have a 64 C10 that my great grandfather bought new in my home town. When he passed, my grandad got it and...

    SBC valve lash?

I’m by no means an expert, but why not try setting the lash at 0.025” on all valves and see if you get a lot of lifter, rocker arm rattle. If it’s quiet, call it good and run it. It won’t be life or death of the engine, in my opinion. The head casting mark or casting number isn’t going to give...

    carburetor size on a 350

I know this is beating a dead horse, but unless you are mainly doing full throttle blasts down a drag strip, a quadrajet that’s properly tuned is extremely hard to beat. I ran one Edelbrock carb for a while on a daily driver and didn’t care for it. Swapped in a quad and was much happier. I...

    Crazy question

IF you decide to take the bed bolts loose, get up under there and use a wire brush to remove as much rust and dirt as you can from the bolts. Spray the bolts and nuts liberally with some penetrating oil. I use PB Blaster. Let them soak for days and then spray them again. Keep doing that for a...

    carburetor size on a 350
