Tire Size for K10 Heavy Half

Those wheels look like a 16" wheel, not the standard 15" that would be on it from the factory. If that's the case you could probably run a 285/75R16. Those are only 32.8" tall and about 10.5" wide. If you have an 8" wide wheel or less it shouldn't rub.

    Hello From NorCal

You have a California HD emissions truck, so no cats. Just make sure all the vacuum lines are connected correctly and all the parts on the air cleaner sticker are in place or you will fail. Check the timing too. FYI look at your fill pipes. They are probably larger diameter than the standard...

What is this side duct for?

The snorkel tube attaches to it. I had to use this silicone tube as an extension as the they don't reproduce the BBC version. I also cut the cap off mine so it works more as a ram air. I don't forge water, so I'm not worried about water.

    HVAC Vacuum setup

Here a link to a prior thread on this. Look at post #9 for more diagrams. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/hvac-vacuum-controls.29376/#post-587140

    K20 Wheel/Tire Confirmation

I’m old so I don’t deal with offsets. I know my current truck and several prior ones had 4.5” of back space on my 16” & 16.5” wheels. They had no issues with rubbing even with a 15/36 radial. Current K30 has a 16x10 wheel with 4.5” BS and a 305/70R16 (32.8”) tire. Your 285’s are also 32.8” tall.

    HVAC Vacuum setup

HVAC and cruise control use the same vacuum canister that originates on the driver’s side. Here’s a diagram. Disregard the area on the left side in the box, it doesn’t apply to your truck.

    HVAC Vacuum Controls

My ‘85 Silverado only has one vacuum pod on the driver’s side. Early trucks have the passenger side pod.

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

Here’s the page that lists my parts. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/1985-k30-resurrection.18494/page-13 I did use the fan temp sensor for a 350 as I couldn’t find a 454 version at the time. I haven’t had a GMT 400 in 20 years, so I can’t tell you what would interchange other than the...

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

@beady when I added my fan I found out the ‘85 OEM style sensor was discontinued. I used one for a GMT -400. Look around page 13-15 of my build. I listed all the parts and numbers there.

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

I lived in Nor Cal for a couple years after I installed the A/C (95* occasionally) and now in Mid TN with heat and humidity. A/C temps were in the 40s. I only have Boom Mat in the cab right now, still need to add jute and carpet. I only drive my truck 500-1000 miles a year and where I drive it...

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

I actually added it. All my other 454 trucks had it. This truck didn’t have the Z82 tow package which included the aux fan. It was easy to add. The fan is controlled by a temp sensor on the passenger head (OEM setup and parts). It’s basically a ground for the fan relay. It turns on/off at...

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

I had an aftermarket in dash A/C installed years ago on my '80 crew cab. Vents were in the OEM dash locations and used the factory heater. It could not keep up with the larger cab. I lived in Nor Cal at the time. Last year I helped a friend install a Vintage Air in his '62 Bel Air wagon...

    1985 k30 starter

I removed mine from the bottom. I don’t recall any issues getting it in and out. The biggest pain was getting the shims back in when re-installing it. I just read your last post as I was posting. I have factory manifolds.

    What is this? (LSPV Valve)

I removed the rear valve on two trucks and got better braking from both without locking up. Both have 33” tires. I can’t recall if I did it on the ‘87 dually I had. My guess the front valve is the same as all the years prior to GM using this. I had an ‘80 C20 3+3, basically a 1-ton chassis, it...

    85 suburban 454 exhaust setup

Here's the Super 50 set up on my K30. I wanted to have it exit to the side, but the spring hangers would make the tips too low on a K30. I've done it before on 10/20 Series trucks/Suburbans. Due to the different shape of the rear hanger on those trucks there's more room to fit the tailpipe...

    Wire identification 81 c30 dually

My ‘85 is setup this way. The pod on the carb is vacuum operated. There is an electric solenoid mounted on my thermostat housing that connects to the pod. I believe the relay on the valve cover ties into my electric solenoid based on RPM, it then opens the vacuum to allow the pod on the carb...

    Wire identification 81 c30 dually

The relay on the firewall could be for the pod on the driver's side front of the carb. Mine is mounted on the valve cover. On my '85 it opens the carb a hair to prevent back fires between certain RPM's.

Show me your 8 lug wheels!

Up to 2010 yes. 2011 the bolt pattern changed on trucks, but stayed the same for 2500 Suburbans.

    Factory A/C Conversion for '86

My truck has factory A/C (originally A6 compressor) and due to the fact before I bought it, it sat parked for 10 years baking in the Central California sun. I replaced just about every part in the system. I added a Sanden compressor and custom lines. It works great. I've had a couple...
