TH400 slipping... sort of
Okay... Turbo400 in the truck, NOT the original tranny, original was a 4 speed. When the truck is cold, taking a LEFT turn only, low speed only, from a stop, (taking a left after a red light or leaving the driveway) it will shift from 1st to 2nd without problem, then often, will immediately...- Geektrucker

Diagnosing a bad column?
Here's the problem... when I turn the steering wheel (left or right doesn't seem to make a difference)... I hear a nasty "crunching / grinding" noise. It "sounds" to be the top end of the column.. sometimes, it will "bind" slightly requiring about twice the effort to over-come the spot and...- Geektrucker

Thanks HotRodPC... glad to hear you dodged them 'nados... got a friend just moved to Tulsa area a couple weeks ago.. she's rethinking that move! I'll take a 4' blizzard any day over a tornado! Sadly, the ONLY things not completely rotted or worn out and useless on the 87 was the G80...- Geektrucker
