    That LMC part may be close enough to allow you to cut out a piece that will work. I have found that metal is rather thin tho. Another option I would try myself would be to hammer out a patch piece but that requires a bit of skill. Fiber hair filler could do the job for you provided the truck...

    I was thinking you could simply clean a spot on the stem of the housing and stick the wire under a hose clamp. Anything that makes a good clean contact. Then tap a good ground off the battery. Heck even a jumper cable coild work just to rule out grounding.

    This may have been covered already but. The distributer gets its ground through the base correct? Is that a solid ground? Does the engine have a solid ground?     Help me get up to speed. Is it a standard HEI or does the truck have an ECM and ESC for the spark?

    Engine bay clean...

    2x on washing while running. I liked to get em hot, soak it in Engine-Brite start it up and wash away. Seemed the heat helped with cleaning. Plus if you drench a par and kill it you know what you sprayed right before it died. Never killed one washing tho.

    If you want to spend a bunch of money on an ignition system you can but a well setup factory HEI will do the job very well.

    Seems like an aweful lot of work to do on a vehicle with an existing well designed suspension. Packing bearings is not even a once every couple years thing.

    Yeah but my 87 started and idled fine and fell on it's face when you tried to move it cold. The culprit was a clogged fuel filter. Warm it was fine. That's why I asked.
