Hubs are pretty simple to service so I would start there. If I recall you had a shop donsome shoddy work once before so there could be an issue with one of the hubs. In the cold the grease may not be fluid enough to allow full engagement. I would use white lithium rather than bearing grease. If...
I would like to add, also be sure you have a good working 195 degree thermostat and the ground by the coolant temp sensor on the intake manifold is good and clean. The temp sensor on the intake is the one that tells the ecm how warm the engine is and adjusts fuel metering.
The dust generated by the traffic on the salt will blow into nooks and crannies. Once Moisture is added it begins its work. Its not as bad as when it is in slush form on the roads but it can still cause some corrosion.
You can work through the attached page and make sure your guage is working correctly. I would also be paying attention to the condition of the ground for the instrument cluster as well as the connections to the guage on the back of the cluster. Be sure the wire has no continuity to ground with...
I resectfully disagree with you. I made the switch to manifold vacuum on my '78 350 with excellent results. If there is no concern about emissions the hydrocarbons are of little worry. That truck never ran so good after I reset the base timing and tuned the carb in again. I was running a stock...
This works on the tv and kick down cables but you have to remone the throttle cable to lube it unless you drill a hole in the outer sleeve that comes back from the eye that attaches to the carb. Otherwise you cant get to the point where the cable enters the sheath.
The cables are cheap so I just replaced mine every now and then. I suppose one could make up a shoertr one if they wanted. I never found it to be all that difficult to swap out so I didn't make one.
I have also used heat or cold to help in some situations and I totaly understand the concept. My only concern was that the axle inside the bearing rollers should not be an interfearance fit. If it was the side
gears holding it up thats a different issue. I just wouldn't want the OP to end up...
