Can inner fenders (wheel wells) from an '83 fit the front clip from a '73 ??

I bought a 73/74 front clip for my 83 k10. The wheel wells/inner fenders are ugly and the passenger side one is completely rusted away where it bolts to the radiator support. No steel left. However, the ones on my truck currently are in plenty good shape. Can I just use what I have? They're...

I'm swapping my 83 front end with the older style. Phase 1 will be buying all the parts, and they add up fast. So hopefully I can save a buck or two and buy used from one of you fine folks. hood fenders inner fenders hood hinges hood latch wipers assembly/gears core radiator support...

Engine runs bad after 30 minutes of driving

Do a "plug chop". Get the engine all hot and bothered, then do your trick to get it to stumble. Let it stumble for 20 seconds or however long you can hold it, then turn the ignition off and pull to the side of the road. Pull some spark plugs and see what they look like. Black as coal? White as...

What have you done to your square lately??

Wow, surprised the motor would run with the timing like that Just goes to show that these motors want to run no matter how bad of shape they're in

What have you done to your square lately??

adjusted the timing today...... I borrowed a timing light from a buddy. It's like 40 years old and a cheapo from sears. Long story short.. It took a crap on me right after I loosened the distributor adjustment bolt. :emotions122: So I went old school and used my vacuum guage. Advanced the...

Diagnose Engine Problems w Vac Guage

That would make sense, but the port is supposed to be manifold vacuum. In the diagram below, my vacuum advanced is hooked to the port on the right (driver side) and the port on the left is plugged. When I disconnect the vacuum advance and connect my vacuum guage in it's place, it shows 0 psi...

Diagnose Engine Problems w Vac Guage

Thanks for the info! Very helpful. I ordered a vacuum gauge and it just came in the mail. I first hooked it up to the manifold port on the Edelbrock 1400 600cf carberator. Nothing! 0 psi. I hooked it up to the PCV hose (removed the PCV, left it on the valve cover, plugged it into the...

how crazy is this idea?? I want to install a 71-72 grill on my 83 k10

Cool idea? An abomination? Even doable?? I know a lot of people like the 81-87 front nose, but I much prefer the older 73-80 style. Mainly the shape of the fenders and the round headlights. But to do a front clip conversion, I would need new fenders, hood, radiator support, inner...

Can the 73-80 side molding be intalled using glue, not the clips/screws?

But that means drilling holes, and that means measuring and praying that a hole wasn't drilled in the wrong place. Can lots of the "mounting hardware with little square pads on the back" be used all over trim? edit: I found images. The front curved pieces are not as flat as the straight...

Can the 73-80 side molding be intalled using glue, not the clips/screws?

I would be installing the trim to an '83 cab+bed with a front clip from a 73-80. So I wouldn't have the holes in the cab and bed for the clips. Before I go and swap all the front sheet metal, I just want to make sure I can install the side molding without drilling holes. So do you think it can...

REMOVE a leaf?? or, How to Lower a 4" lift to stock height

Can I get another opinion on whether or not I'll need to shorten the driveshafts? Here are some better pictures: So you can see there's only about an inch of travel. I here there's a driveline shop in Wichita that will shorten them for $50 a pop. That's not bad at all. Will do

REMOVE a leaf?? or, How to Lower a 4" lift to stock height

Yeah it's a bit too much gear, but the 350 is very strong and can muscle through it. In fact, the engine might be my favorite part of this truck. That, and the fact that it's SWB. What to do what to do.....

REMOVE a leaf?? or, How to Lower a 4" lift to stock height

If that's the case then my dilemma is solved and I know what I must do: SELL! (and by a different square body of course ;)). Or maybe not, I don't know......... :whymewhyme::whymewhyme::whymewhyme::whymewhyme:

REMOVE a leaf?? or, How to Lower a 4" lift to stock height

That might be the ticket right there. Thanks bucket  but I'm not so sure that truck in the picture is lifted. Here's his build thread - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=537558 - no lift blocks on the rear and flat springs on the front

REMOVE a leaf?? or, How to Lower a 4" lift to stock height

Just calculated the gear ratio via HotRod's wheel spin method. It's a 3.42:1 gear ratio. WAY OUT OF RANGE for 35" tires! (according to this chart at least) - http://www.southwestpowersports.com/gear-chart.gif More reason to go down to smaller tires

REMOVE a leaf?? or, How to Lower a 4" lift to stock height

Yes actually. Why? Because I want to install smaller tires and bring it down to stock height. In fact, this is the question I've been asking myself every day, several times a day actually. What I have is a pretty good truck, excellent off-road machine (sm465, np205, only weak link is the...

REMOVE a leaf?? or, How to Lower a 4" lift to stock height

Well... it's more complicated than that. This truck started life as a 4x2 C10, which was converted to 4x4. Still doesn't necessary mean that the driveshaft is not the old stock one, but with the automatic transmission swapped out for a shorty SM465 + NP205 (which together might make the...

What kind of fuel mileage do you get?

Replaced the spark plugs and wires. Before: ~8 mpg highway After: ~14 mpg highway!! City mpg is still awful because the new fuel pump is overflowing the Edelbrock carb at low RPMs. A Holley fuel regulator is on the way, will be here tomorrow. Should help tremendously. edit: just calculated...
