Well, I hope you all can shed some light on this for me..

Hmm, well I DO have a 700r4 to check to see if it's the same, though I am not sure on the condition of that tranny, I was gonna rebuild it and swap out my TH350 and put the 700r4 in my square.. I think I will see how the tail shaft on that one spins, I should have checked that before I tore it...

Hmm, HRPC hasn't said much, does that mean he agrees with your assessment, and cannot say it any better than you?

Well, I hope you all can shed some light on this for me..

Well, the only reason I even checked it was the video said that if it only spun the one way, the band was bound up in the servo.. I spun it, it went one way, but REALLY hard the other. Not totally locked, but harder to spin one way than the other. I've never done this before, so it helps...

Well, I hope you all can shed some light on this for me..

Really? I was baffled.. the video I was using said that if it only spun one way, I had the band bound up with the servo. So you are saying it is normal for it to be REALLY hard to spin the tail shaft clockwise? Would be a HUGE relief if this is true. I guess it wasn't totally locked up, but...

Well, I hope you all can shed some light on this for me..

I was installing the servo on my rebuild (4L60E) and when I was done, I went to spin the tailshaft back and forth to check if I hung up the band, and it spun one way, but REALLY hard to spin the other.. So, I took the servo back out, still hard to spin that direction.. So, I take the...

    Emmisions Discussion

Exactly, because they really don't care about the actual emissions!! If that was what they REALLY were concerned with, they would simply not go about it this way. Global warming emission for example, if they were REALLY worried about it, cars would be the LAST thing they'd worry about since...

    Emmisions Discussion

WHat you guys keep forgetting is all of this has NOTHING to do with actual emissions, or environment, or any other of the supposed excuses they come up with for it. It's all about the $$.. If you can shell out the $$ for a newer engine, you can afford to give them "their" piece.. "La...

    Emmisions Discussion

I remember when I worked at a shop in the 90's when they used to do emissions testing in MN (thank God they came to their senses when they realized it had ZERO- YES ZERO effect on the air pollution #'s).. Biggest offender was the Ford escort, and Dodge Caravan/K cars. . Back then, they had what...

    700r4 upgrades

One could also question why on earth a guy would be putting 36" tires on a lifted truck, and trying to do a bunch of highway driving too though..... :D

    700r4 upgrades

Ok, so, what is the most efficiency? I am thinking, the efficiency would come from what your engine's powerband, which is something you design as you build your engine. Most HP is kinda peaked at like 3500, unless you've made your engine for high reving via cam destroke, etc.. If you...

    700r4 upgrades

On that truck, I had the TH350.. But, from what I am reading the advice is that even with the TH350, they are advising 4.10 gear ratios at anything bigger than 33" tires. Hence my question about hills because I never thought 3.73 was bad with my 36" buckshots at all. But then, I am in...

looking for opinions on dual exaust

Only thing I can contribute, is whatever you do, don't remove the brace from the transfer case to the engine. It is right in the way for dual exhaust to go between the frame and tranny, etc.. But guy I knew who did that ended up cracking the case on his tranny due to the twist the engine put on it..

    700r4 upgrades

Kinda confused on the gear ratio thing.. I had a truck with 4.56 ratio, and I had to put 38's on it before it would stop opening the secondaries to cruise on the freeway with traffic. That truck would barely get 6mpg! With my 3.73's on my half ton with 36's on it, I could get between 12 and 14...

    Buckets or bench?

Bu ya can't do "c'mere corners" with buckets!!! (take a hard right turn with slippery vinyl bench seat, and her not wearing seatbelt, so she can C'MERE when she's sitting too far!) When I was about 19, I'd have like 6 girls piled in my truck, no way I coulda done that with buckets!

    Door Strikers

You can get white blue and red for any size.. http://www.pexsupply.com/PEX-Tubing-516000 I just did radiant heat and a new boiler at my house. Since it is a low temp boiler, I went with PEX tubing, and colored the cold return blue, and hot water from the boiler with red. Makes it much...

How easy is it to use Vortech heads on older small block?

Going to the bone yard u-pull it place this Friday. Noticed the post stickied about the vortech heads, etc.. I thought I might go pull some off something while I am there if I find something. Couple of questions. I am assuming the manifolds/headers off my original 350 won't fit...

4L60-E 3/4 Clutch Pack Clearance Issue

Aha! I think I may have found the info from Alto's website.. Looks like the odd loking steel I got with the set is supposed to replace the top pressure plate.

4L60-E 3/4 Clutch Pack Clearance Issue

Well, I did some research, and found this post... Here's the thread, for context.. http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-406007.html Now, I'm not gonna go out and toss my clutches, but he mentions a certain size pressure plates and snap ring size (along with a side note of...

4L60-E 3/4 Clutch Pack Clearance Issue

Delete the bottom pressure plate? There's a thicker steel that came with the kit, but I thought that was for the two piece bottom pressure plate. I have the 1 piece one. That thicker steel has no "feet" that stick down like the bottom pressure plate I have does. On the two piece one, the bottom...

4L60E 700R4 typical rebuild parts list

Yeah, I don't have that either.. Some day maybe.. Meantime, it isn't just the driving them in I was wondering about. The Official GM manual cites some slide hammer extracting tool, etc, etc.. Like over a thousand dollars worth of tooling.. Big investment if you're only doing a few.. Any other...

4L60E 700R4 typical rebuild parts list

Yeah, I was wondering if the beast was now obsolete because of the smart shell, or if it was simply for heavier duty applications, or something.. Why have both i guess is my question, if you've got a product that answers all the questions, just sell it, not two different ones, unless you have...

4L60E 700R4 typical rebuild parts list

What do y'all think of the Sonnax "smart shell" in place of "the beast"? I also found that OEM hardened are CLAIMING even better durability (claimed testing much life after aftermarket shell failures) than "the beast" too according to bulk part. What do you think of that claim?

    Cab swap

Funny you should mention that, since Minnesota recently had a bridge collapse due to fatigue.. It was ruled a design defect, yet it was fine for how many decades?? I cannot help but wonder if the salt had something to do with it..

    Cab swap

Honestly, I have no idea, it looks like blue salt crystals, with sand mixed in. But man does it eat the metal out of your cars!! Stuff is horrid. Also, it kills trees all along the freeway, you can see the mist kicked up by the vehicles, when it's wet, and that line, is the same line where the...

Please accept my heartfelt apology if I have contributed to your frustration. I want to learn more, this is why I ask what may be to some dumb questions.
