Lets clean the o2 sensors too...with the engine running, up to temp, ground a and b and run her at 2k for about 3 minutes. CEL will flash like a motherfucker. slow flash(1 per second)=closed loop Fast(1every 1/2 second)= open loop

Ok, while your at it, go ahead and see if you can get the min air idle re set at about 450rpm, and see what the MAP voltage is...should be around 1.21-1.23 Also, check ground for the O2, Cavity D6 on the large ecm connector. Chris, Pin cavity D on your ESC, check for good ground...goes to the...

Whats the o2 doing, and whats TPS volts? If the o2 cools too much at idle, it will go OL, regardless of coolant temp. Pig rich will cool the shit outta the o2.

Ahhhh... Okie doke. Chris, unplug the ecm(might not hurt to peep at the pins while your there) and the other end at the speedo, and check for continuity and ground.

Yeah, the VSS is an important part of the Idle strategy, which if messed up somehow, could cause the shift stall. It is a brown wire in cavity A10 of the small ECM plug, and it goes to the DRAC unit under the dash...not sure exactly where in the gmt400....Retro?

Sounds like a Fuel pressure issue. May be a problem with the lift pump...if it has one. Also, the injector pump may need to be rebuilt, and is not holding pressure in the system. Where in the bay are you?

    TBI related Q

Build your top end the way you like, and get a custom chip tune, and you should be good. I would still get the ported TB though. Also, a roller cam from an l31 vortec really works good with TBI heads.

I think his harness got jacked up somehow. Who whoa whoa...Chriss, Have you checked your VSS? Even if the speedo works, how about the wire going to the ECM?

    '88 TBI 350 - multiple personalities

Swims didnt have his done, I think he just soaked them. Its very rare that a tBI injector ever really takes a shit....most cases I have seen, are where the truck sits for a long time.

    TBI related Q

IF you find that you need more CFM due to mods, just get a ported throttle body. It will have 2" barrels like on the TBI 454. It all really depends on what you are trying to do.

Please Welcome GotExhaust.com to the forum

Walker, APC, and Maremont are good suppliers for those that want a showroom type exhaust for restoration purposes. Would be great if you could snag all 3 of them. I have a complete walker system listed for 87 and up, and its a wonderful system, great fit and finish for a driveway install.

Reset the ecm and check with ALDL after. Did you set TPS to .54?

Mmmm....You say it runs better advanced, and its running better with the esc unplugged....My is thinking that its possible the knock sensor wire is chaffed and grounding out, or possibly pinched? If so, the ecm is pulling out timing, which has you adding it at the dizz.

    '88 TBI 350 - multiple personalities

Who cleaned them? I am going to warn you, I have bought new injectors from the parts store, Autozone to be exact, and they swore up and down that they were for a 350, but when I installed them, the truck ran like they were 4.3 injectors...Just be prepaired for that possibility.

    Edelbrock carb add-ons

You wouldbe better off to call Bowtieoverdrives.com. They can tell you exactly what you will need from Edelbrock(or you can call edelbrock) As far as the throttle moving farther manually, than with the pedal....Welcome to the club.

Yeah, you would hope that they would have given more thought to that spacer design, with wires running near it...especially 2 charged with 12v near a fine spray of fuel.

Have you checked the wires running to the injectors where they enter the TB?

Most replacement pieces like Y pipes and such for squares has very little aftermarket support. Walker, Waldron, and APC are our only options, besides an exhaust shop. GMT-400 and newer is where the aftermarket kicks in.
