Newbie here, need help on tranny selection.

Yes, but there is a controller available to use the E Trans with a Carburetor. Just throwing that out as an option. Oh yeah, you will need a lockup kit as well.

    Did I just get 16+mpg?

Well, not many live in Arcata, and have not heard of Ben Hurd's Christmas tree farm. Have you?

Newbie here, need help on tranny selection.

The best would be a 92 unit, also referred to as the 4l60. Later models added the "e " to the identification to indicate electronic control...which can be used with a carb, while utilizing a controller. IMO, the E model is best, especially from a longevity standpoint, as you have the controller...

    Did I just get 16+mpg?

Yup, Arcata is where she is sitting now...in the trees above West End, and Aldergrove roads, ya know, the Renner station and the mill? Shit, now I want a Bacon cheese burger from Toni's.

tbi issues, on my 88 gmt400

Yeah, that would be cool...I flew a Lear 25 in flight school. I just like to put along though. An old T-28 trojan, or A-1 Sky Raider come to mind.

    Fuel Problems, HELP!

A good idle speed to shoot for is 550 in gear.....also, set your timing in gear while someone steps on the brake, will keep the advance weights retracted and so you can set an accurate base.

And Jay, I have another to add to your list. The ECM senses voltage, and when voltage goes low(dont know what the parameter is), even if ALDL says 12 or more, check all the Hot leads to the ecm, as well as the hot lead between the battery, and the charge post of the alternator....if it has...

ok, I added some stuff to that last post...racking my brain...you have been through absolutely every fucking inch of the system. Can you check that trans modulator for a leak?

Have you checked the Park/neutral switch at the bottom of the column?...really shouldnt cause issues working or not, but thats the only warning the ecm has of the trans going in and out of gear. Also, have you by any chance plugged off the brake booster to wsee how the truck runs? I know its a...

No, the capacitors are a Quick fix for injector driver problems, figured out by GM field techs that were sent to dealerships when their techs had pulled all their hair out. Your ecm is just fine, with those numbers.

The never ending 700r4 Lockup questions haha

How about when manually grounding D? Worst case, TC is shot. It locked before the conversion, right?
  16. Jims86

    been so long. vortec refresher.

Its not just the bolt holes that are the issue on the non vortec intakes, the intake ports are much taller, and will extend above a regular sbc manifold.

K, when cruising, give just enough brake to activate the lights, and see if rpms go up.

The never ending 700r4 Lockup questions haha

Nahhh, maybe a 2 or 300 rpm or so drop....never really noticed RPM when my laptop was hooked up, but if you can hear your exhaust, you will know if its working. sometimes at the right speed/rpms, there is a little kick in the ass.

The never ending 700r4 Lockup questions haha

Hmmm. Maybe the wrong type of switch on the 4th gear circuit? May have to put a tach on it. If you ground it, and there is no lockup, you might have a torn O ring on the new tcc solenoid.
