    I remember those knock sensors being VERY touchy if there was an exhaust leak nearby, or cheap shorty headers that would mimic a knock - then the timing would be retarded so bad the truck would drool and start eating all the green crayons. Fun times at the dealership in those days.......

    Myself, I would place the fuel filter before the regulator, as any restriction and associated pressure drop in the fuel filter is not controlled by the regulator AND the fuel going through the regulator is also filtered - contributing to longer life and accuracy.
