Will a sb Chevy interchange with a Buick?

Yup. They make adapter plates. Jegs, speedway, probably trans dapt as well. What are you trying to accomplish?

Factory roof rack install - I don't have the black gaskets, what can I use to make some?

I laid down painters tape where the screws would be. Placed the rack in as close to stock position that I could find using photos on the web. Used a marker to mark screw holes. Removed rack. Drilled pilot holes. Removed tape. Installed rack. The paint on my burb is pretty nice and I didnt want...

Factory roof rack install - I don't have the black gaskets, what can I use to make some?

I cant add to what @skysurfer posted, spot on. My burb didnt come with a roof rack either. The OEM gaskets are a rigid plastic and sheet metal screws are used as previously mentioned. When my rack was pulled the screws seemed to be dry, meaning no RTV or other thread sealer was used. When I...

What lift and tires are best for my 1990 Suburban?

Thanks! Add a leaf only in the rear. Same wheels, tires, and shocks before and after. Ride got a bit stiffer in the back but not annoyingly stiff. It is a 30 year old square on a truck chassis.

What lift and tires are best for my 1990 Suburban?

Yea thats the problem. I dunno if/who sells them. I'm sure someone who has ridden on a set will chime in.

What lift and tires are best for my 1990 Suburban?

I have that kit along with a front sway bar kit and front leaf spring kit sitting in the box. I was reading it makes the ride stiffer, then I read it makes the ride firmer, then I read they squeak. I think I'm gonna end up selling my stuff and replacing with OEM style bushings. I think someone...

    Adding bluetooth to stock radio

I think a pretty trick way to do it without having anything seen is by running an FM modulator which will give you an auxiliary input that uses a 3.5 mm (headphone) jack. You then run a 12v USB plug either hidden for a stealth look or on the dash if you want it to serve as a charger as well...

The ultimate noob finally gets his dream truck - Hello from Joshua Tree

Welcome aboard. Awesome Burb! Where did you order a factory roof rack from? When I wanted to add one to my Suburban I looked on ebay and decided I didnt want to pay that much. Luckily a local junkyard had one and I got a pretty good deal on it. Feel free to ask away with whatever questions you...

    Easiest path to fuel injection?

Holley EFI is a good route, I'm not very familiar with it so I dont know how involved it is but i feel like it should be a pretty straight forward swap. Of course I wouldnt waste time or money on putting holley efi on a 305. Getting a 87-91 TBI set up can also be a pretty quick job and would be...

Good 12 volt source for LED halo ring on headlights

Did you replace your fuse panel? Didnt round eye trucks have glass fuses? In any case, I believe all fuse panels have open IGN ports that you can use without using an add a circuit. May just be in later years though. Nothing wrong with the add a circuit in this case but still probably uneeded...

    1985 Monte Carlo SS

Oil cooler adapter is replaced with a regular one. Filter is still pretty close to the header but it fits and I bought a rock auto close out of wix made 51069 filters a while back. I dont think its gonna be much fun doing an oil change on this lol. Oh well.

Good 12 volt source for LED halo ring on headlights

Tap an ignition wire at the bulkhead. Theres not gonna be much ahead of the firewall for an ign wire but I would be weary of tapping a wire that will be exposed to elements. You said you didnt want to but the I feel the best way is to tap one of the slots on the fuse panel. Are you planning on...

    1985 Monte Carlo SS

Thanks man. Always had a soft spot for them. First one I bought was when I was 18, then again at 25, now maybe the 3rd time is the charm. Here are a few more shots of the interior and seats to go in. Engine is partially assembled. Pretty much in mock up stage before I cinch everything down...

    1985 Monte Carlo SS

I tore apart the interior and sold the seats and console for a surprisingly good price. Then I hit up Harrys U Pull it in Hazelton, PA and got the leather seats and console from an 03 Monte Carlo, also got a new ACC carpet. I cleaned and dyed the interior panels black with duplicolor fabric and...

    1985 Monte Carlo SS

So a thread a while back talking about "The one that got away" got me thinking...and spending... I bought a clapped out 85 Monte. Got it with the engine apart and pretty bubba'd but this was a guilty pleasure, impulse buy so I didnt care. Had a 350 from an 87 truck, CCC deleted, half the...

Best headlights to use, NOT LED

If you havent already, do the High 4 mod. Allows high beams on with low beams for those real dark back roads. I did this on my 2000 OBS Tahoe. I mounted the relay for this near the firewall since you can tap all necessary wires near the bulkhead connector. Its independent of the headlight relay...

Best headlights to use, NOT LED

Another vote for Hella sealed beam conversions. The relay harness is a big plus. Also keep in mind that incandescent bulbs will fade over time so a relay kit and new sealed beams will yield brighter results. Stay away from ebay sealed beam kits, the beam patterns are gar-bage. Autopal is as...

Thick black/red tint sticky stuff on fuel line

I hate those filters. They always leak for me. Speaking of leak, maybe its the ethanol content in the fuel eating at the rubber? Havent seen anything quite that color but I have seen hoses melting away and decomposing essentially. Not much you can do about that besides buy a modern hose meant to...

    Pontiac 400

I have an Olds 403 which in 79 wasnt as good as a Poncho 400. You could only get a 400 with a manual trans and the 403 with an auto. Dunno why it was that way but it was. At the end of the day the 400 can be made into a sweet engine with some cash flow. If I were you I would sell it and use the...

    LED Dome Lights?

Another vote for the LMC kit. Got it in the back of my burb with and LED bulb. I got mine off of ebay, just search for whatever part number it is plus LED. I generally buy the ones with more SMDs (surface mount diodes) That way if they do happen to go bad you still have most of the bulb lit...

LED flasher. What are these wires for?

It would make the blinker work. The blinker needs to see the voltage from the vehicle to then induce flashing. If its on the wrong side nothing will happen. Think of it like polarity on an led bulb. It needs + and - to be on the corresponding side otherwise it doesnt light up. Hope that made...
