There are companies that make drop base shaker assemblies but they cost almost as much as the damn intakes. Right now there are 2 other used performer intakes on ebay that came up after I had bid and consequently won the one im waiting for. They are cheap right now so if you're feeling froggy...

Garage hacks/ideas to make life better?

I may have used the wrong term then. I did buy 2x4x8 boards, I just called them studs since I thought that was the common size for wall studs.

Garage hacks/ideas to make life better?

The wood cribbing I just made to get the front end of the Trans Am up is going to be used multiple times I feel. very sturdy and safe way to get your car elevated for long periods of time. I feel like at least 1 set of 4 is mandatory for a shop / garage now.

I've looked into concrete pads and the cost of professional finish work is too high for me also. I'm jsut gonna keep rollin in the dirt till i get a property large enough to build the garage I want. In other news for the TA, I scored a used edelbrock performer intake and it should be arriving...

Core support is out. Still got everything attached to it too lol. Yea after the rain we got I'm definitley going to put some plywood under the cribbing to distribute the load. I dont plan on getting under the car until the engine and trans are mated so I can connect linkages and the...

Power to the stereo while cranking?

You can make it simple and untimed by using a relay to trigger the radio off when the door is opened. https://www.the12volt.com/relays/relaydiagram30.html I've also heard of people wiring in a 4th gen f body RAP module. You would have to search for the wiring on that though. That would give...

So this past weekend I ended not having enough time to do everything I wanted but made some progress on the TA and Burb nonetheless. I went to home depot and picked up 14 2x4x8 studs. I didnt want to spend the money on ground contact pressure treated wood cuz I'm cheap. I will probably end up...

Ideas for fuel mileage - underdrive pulley? electric fan?

Depending on how much you drive you will either never see a cost savings or i will take years to realize it. If you drive a lot then your best bet is a commuter car. You should see a cost benefit within a few months. I know its probably not the answer you wanted to hear but I was in the same...

Adding Factory Roof Rack - Proper Mounting

Yes, I have 8 gaskets. 4 large for the forward and rear most mounting points and 4 smaller ones for the center mounting points. They are hard plastic though, not rubber. Should I get some some sort of thin weatherstrip foam in addition or is that all you have on yours?

Adding Factory Roof Rack - Proper Mounting

When getting parts from that yard I usually walk the yard and pick stuff out but this time I had them pull it for me so I didnt see how the roof skin was after removal. They did give me a bunch of sheet metal screws which is what led me to believe it goes right into the metal without a nutsert...

Adding Factory Roof Rack - Proper Mounting

So I purchased a factory roof rack from a junk yard near me. They told me it has all of the mounting hardware and to me it seems like it does. I have two questions: Where is the proper mounting location? How is it attached to the roof? Do the screws go right through the roof or are they...

As far as I know its stock height. Its on dirt and may have sunk a bit, tires are also 25 years old and low. Dont wanna pump em up too much. The top of the leg of the cherry picker is about 1/2 to high. Regardless, I want the cribbing for other jobs so I figure now is a good a time as any to...

I like the sleek look of the Forumulas. I've love to get my hands on a 70-73 Formula, or even a regular. Thats a bucket list car for sure. Dont care what it has as long as its not rust. Thanks man, I appreciate it. You can definitely make some power with the olds, just gonna require some extra...

That seems to be a reasonable price now a days for a good condition driver quality car. I'm hoping to get mine in that condition for less $$$, I have other mouths to feed aka cars. That last one isnt bad, but about what they are going for by me when found. What it really comes down to for me...

From what I saw he was very anal about rust. There was a small spot on the corner of the rear window and he removed the window, ground it down, put naval jelly on, then primed the whole quarter lol. I think the car was too far gone for him, or he lost interest. He showed me his wife's C3 Vette...

I started pulling the engine which while getting to the car I found no rust (except for the battery tray) and not a single 40 year old bolt fought me. WOW! What a pleasure its been so far. The passenger side of that engine bay is pretty cramped. Changing plugs looks like a PITA. The carb is...

Since I'm on this board all this time I figured I'd add my 79 Build thread also. I bought this car because I've always loved 2nd gen Firebirds, this will be 3rd owned and most likely a keeper.
