The Truck Purists Love To Hate And I Just Love

Welcome to the board! Wonder how much of a weight difference there is, if any, between those 90's beds versus the full steel ones of the 70's/80;'s? Not my preferred bed, but certainly better than the ones where the bed is rusted away up to the rails. Looks good though! Now you've got a good...

Recommendations? Stainless braided front brake hoses

I'm running extended brake lines from Offroad Design front & rear. They're made well, had a nice coating on them too.

    Points to HEI

I think i'll run a temporary 12v from the fuse box, but I was thinking of doing it this way for a permanent fix: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=708975 He replaced the 12v all the way up to the firewall. @Snoots I'm using a new HEI distributor from Summit Racing, Part#...

    Points to HEI

Bringing back an older thread, Where did you guys run the new 12v line from? Firewall pass through? Off the starter somehow? Also, where is the vac advance go to on the quadrajet? Thanks.

Dropped 4 Inches of Lift, driveline problems

Good to hear you got the issue figured out. So the front shaft was too long and causing bind up between the front axle and transfer case then? I'm guessing it's more like it binds up the ujoints then?

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

If you use 2.5" pipe with mufflers that have a 3" inlet/outlet, you'll need to use adapters to step it to the correct size. I got my adapters at SummitRacing for stepping from 2" pipe to 2.5" in/out mufflers.

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

Also, if you wanna switch mufflers easily, you can just use some exhaust clamps to hold em in until you find the one you like, or you can use some of the exhaust flanges like from the manifold collector to the pipes.

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

I like my Flowmaster 40's. Sound pretty good, but a little towards the louder side. I had side exit a long while back, but it was behind the wheels. Then i changed it to dump right before the rear axle. No pipe, tip or nothing behind the mufflers. It was quite droney, anything over 35 you...

Any one seen gauges with this??

Ahhh. Shoulda known that. Thanks. My trucks just super simple. Temp, Amps, Oil, Speedo, and Fuel. Nothing complicated or 50 gauges and lights like newer cars.

Any one seen gauges with this??

Guess it's after my truck's time. What's SES?

Any one seen gauges with this??

I've only got a brake indicator in that spot on my 74. Pretty sure its if the proportioning valve dies or something. Would be cool to add a Loc light for my truck whenever it's in 4hi or 4lo loc.

    Grill refurbish

Gear oil. But I need to do a refurb on my grille too. Any idea on the best products for patching cracks and chunks missing by the hood latch?

Strange Steering Issue - Solved !

Good stuff! Thanks for sharing the symptoms and solution, but as mentioned I'd swap out the ubolts as well just for safe measure.

    @#$%$# shock hardware

What about using a balljoint press? Probably wouldn't hurt heating it up with a torch first either.

If I remember correctly, the bolts are 1/2-13. Not sure on the length though.

    Guess The Tool

Yup. Ran across one a few years back at a local Chevron gas station. Was still holding itself together. Guy offered me a job in construction if I was ever interested.

Where can I find new ones???

Other than the paint, they look pretty good. Hand paint em or mask it off and give them a quick spray?

How many of you Crayon eaters know what this tool is???

Sounds like a bit of fun and a good way to learn of some obscure tools out there. Pretty sure I've only got regular old tools around here though..

    Are these mirrors standard equipment?

The small sport mirrors were factory on my 74 as well. Replaced them with the tripods when she had the over-the-cab camper all the time, then I swapped those out for the big ol dumbo mirrors when the camper was removed and sold. Love being able to see everything with the dumbo mirrors, but the...

Go for it. Worst case scenario, they're cracked or they're stiffer than you'd like.

    Needing new shocks

Looks like a 2" block. Definitely not a 4" or more. Got one of the larger shock bodies as well so they'll take a little bit longer to heat up. I'd take a look at the old shocks for something to go off of. You can find the length of the old ones via the part number too.

    Extended brake lines ?

I think I kinda just spun the caliper once to give it a little bit of twist to hold itself away from the tire. Mine don't get close at all.

    Just Left Shop Help Pls!!??

Probably just got worse over time. Hitting curbs, potholes, speedbumps, medians while slightly turned can knock the alignment out of place. Having both toed out that far probably started with a bad alignment to begin with anyway.

    Needing new shocks

Bilstein's will definitely be a nice set of shocks. I currently run a set of Rancho RS9000XL's and I love em with their bit of adjustability. I would love to step up to a set of performance shocks such as KING or FOX shocks one day once I settle on all the suspension work. Unless you go for a...
