    Help me identify a vibration

Thanks for the update! Sorry to see you've still got the issue, but getting closer to have it 100% narrowed down.

    383 Vortec/TBI Build Thread

Blow through about 30 optima yellow top batteries a month (give or take) at my work (electric go karts). Some last well over a year, some last less than a few weeks. So always worth giving it a test before you spend hours digging into electrical issues. I also had an issue where if the starter...

    383 Vortec/TBI Build Thread

For your starting issue, load test your battery when it's hot. If still good, then check the battery cables and for any bad grounds. Mine at the firewall above the trans would wiggle loose from time to time. I've also heard that a hard hot start has to do with a timing issue as well. Hope that...

    Remove or trash?

You could try one of the screw/bolt extractors, but i've never had a whole lot of luck with those. If you do try, use lots of pb blaster and heat it up with a torch to help loosen up the threads. You can also just drill it out with a bit just undersized for the threads (go off of the bolt's...

You'll still have left one behind when the driver shows up.

Snow wheeling. Now I want to re-configure...

Do they not even understand that most cars aren't as heavy as a semi truck or school bus? Was the tire even rated to run 75 psi?

    Off-roading Shocks

FOA's quality may have gone up, but they've been known for bad seals and tend to leak very quickly. One of the best upgrades for them is to buy and install the seal kit from King to stop them from leaking.

    Clanking sounds from rear wheel

I'd pull the wheel to check if something is loose to the point that the wheel may be contacting the drum. Then pull the drum apart to ensure that everything is properly situated. It could be as simple as some of the wheel weights came loose and are contacting the drum at the top of the drum when...

    DIY4X dash

I say stick with the factory dash and you can easily build a panel for a new gauge cluster out of some bent sheet metal. I think the diy4x dash would only really work well if you're planning to build a full rock crawler or truggy. But i'll say i'm biased in that I love the way these old trucks...

Looked like its annodized that can be cleaned up real quick.

What have you done to your square lately??

Could always have the wheel plug welded, but then you'd lose the nice finish it's got.

    coilovers vs leaf springs

Hey 77, do you have some more specs on those bilsteins like a part number or shock/piston diameter? Did you have to revalve them for your truck or just bolt right in?

Forgot that those were still called EZ rides. Thanks for adding that.

86 GMC 4” Rough Country to Deaver Springs 4”

Looks great! Do you happen to have any specs on the deaver springs such as length, spring rate? What's the ride height with them now? (ground to frame, or wheel well heights, or axle to frame).

    Factory speaker location????

my 74 was factory equipped with the single 4x10 center dash speaker. My father added 6x9's in the rear corners and a couple 4-5" speakers up under the dash as well. Kinda just tucked em up there with a single bolt or two holding them in place.

Sbc 350 falling on its face

Sounds like either a fuel issue or a spark issue for sure. Have you checked the condition of your spark plugs and plug wires/boots? My truck burned quite a bit of oil and when the plugs got fouled enough, i'd have a massive stumble on the upshift from 2nd to 3rd at high throttle input. If you...

    coilovers vs leaf springs

I'd love to say I have a badass suspension setup, but I'm still pretty mild (5-6" lift in front ez rides, 4" shackle flip in rear & a couple extra leaves, ORD HD shackles w/ greasable bolts/bushings, rancho 9000xl shocks all around and a 2" body lift on top) I've just done a solid amount of...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

I dont manual shift unless its to downshift on a mountain, but my th350 is real smooth shifts. Almost barely notice them if it wasnt for the sound of the revs.

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

@Iowan Looks good, i've thought of using the 3 bolt flanges like the connection between manifold/header and the exhaust piping for mufflers to allow for bolt in/out mufflers or straight pipes. If you're planning to only test them out to see which one you like best, then clamps would work...
