Need some guidance on my plan.

Right down the road in the big ol Long Beach. Another fun one is crossing the tracks in that right hand lane going east on Del Amo just after the Alameda bridge.

Need some guidance on my plan.

The 4.11's is what came from factory in my truck. Never changed them out from the original tires (around 28-29"). Dad always ran 33's on a stock lift, but he trimmed the inside of the fenders a little. Throughout high school and after, I ran 32's and she was pretty peppy. Had a considerable...

Need some guidance on my plan.

This is the exact lift that I pieced together on my truck! Except I went with Rancho RS9000XL shocks. 4" and 33's will give you no trouble at all. 4" and 35's will cause some rubbing when hitting dips or bumps while turning especially. (I wanted to run 35's so increased the lift in the front...

Beautiful lookin truck! Always cool to see all the different blue and white rigs out there.

    Good headlights

Originally, I went with a set of H4 conversion housings to replace the old sealed beams. That alone did wonders even with the cheap blue bulbs. Threw on a relay kit and that helped out a little bit more. Eventually wanted a little bit more, threw in a set of HIDs. 55w, 6k bulbs. The higher...

The L & R outputs go directly to the amp, then to the speakers.

    Audio unit and road noise

Sounds like you've got a set of old speakers as well. Early years had a single 4"×10" speaker in the center of the dash under the dash pad. Later trucks had one at either end. 6"x9" speakers will fit in the cab corners. Can do 5" down at the kick panels or underneath the dash facing down. If...

    Audio unit and road noise

Where are the radio grounds going to? The original harness? Or grounded somewhere under the dash? Try taking a jumper wire and ground the radio straight to the battery. Seems like the other accessories are backfeeding into it for some reason. Is this a 12v or a 24v truck?

Fender to cab seals - where to find?

Anyone know where you can find the seal between the cab and the rear of the front fenders? Mine are a good bit worn down and could use a replacement.

    Good headlights

Do you have conversion headlights or do you still have the standard sealed beams?

    Audio unit and road noise

Would love to see a build thread of the truck and all the restoration you've gone through it is. If the noise filter doesn't help on the 12v, i'd check to see if a shared ground is also causing the issue?

I dont see a body lift anywhere on it. The wheel wells have been trimmed so the shocks don't hit. Fan shroud appears to be at stock height as well. Looks like they custom made a drop bracket style lift thats pretty popular on the newer trucks. Amounts to the same actual wheel travel, just...

Really? Its a great lookin truck. He probably wanted a lifted truck and made do with what he's got. There's definitely no shortage of newer 2wd trucks that are lifted sky high. Odd and unique? Sure. Poser? I think not.

    whats the best lift kit?

I pieced mine together. Definitely not the cheapest option though. Love the ride of it though. Front: EZ Ride 4" springs Drop Pitman arm Rancho RS9000XL Shocks Rear: Stock 52" springs ORD 4" Shackle Flip ORD HD Shackles Rancho RS9000XL Shocks

    Looking for a cam

Definitely appreciate all the help guys. Mike, currently the engine is all torn apart and hopefully going back together soon. Truck is equipped with TH350/NP203, 4.10's on 35's. At 65-70 mph, engine was turning around 2800-3000rpms. That was with fouling plugs, burning oil, low compression...

    Fuel tank relocation

Been a long time since we had our 91 c3500 crew cab dually, but my belief is that the indentation is only below the rear bench seat.

Yeah figured that's what ya were getting at. Maybe the only difference between the heads is the intake or exhaust runner. If they vary, my guess is they aren't much different.

    Head gasket question

Why is the water jacket in the heads so large compared to the holes in the head gasket? The hole in the gasket is around 1/8" where as the opening in the heads is around 3/4". I'm assuming this is to limit the flow rate of coolant through the heads to allow the engine to warm up quicker, but...

Future plan so far: Replace the intake with a high flow dual plane Replace heads with a 70-72cc 2.02/1.6 set for higher flow and a 10:1 compression.

I believe the block was decked, or maybe it was the heads.... Not 100% sure on it. Will definitely check everything out though. Not quite sure what you mean by "unshrouding the valves." I just had a local machine shop rebuild the heads. Sitting in the garage waiting to be masked for paint...

    Steering play upgrade

Depends on where the play is actually coming from. It may be slack in the steering box gears, the rag joint may be worn out on the steering shaft, any number of the tie rods/ball joints could be worn. Gotta go through it all to check for what may be worn out and narrow it down to the actual...
