    Muffler placement

@shiftpro That's an odd regulation, but everywhere seems to have at least a couple of odd regulations. I've still got factory covers on my dana 44 & 12-bolt. Looks like its an aluminum G2 Axle cover, but @hirschdalechevy should know.

    Muffler placement

Out of curiosity, what would actually push it into the illegal modification realm?

    Muffler placement

Had mine without any tips previously and had a ton of drone in the cab. Woulda almost swore your radio broke and was pumping out a pure bass tone at anything higher than about 20-25mph.

    Upgrade To HEI

So theoretically, TBI ignition is an improvement upon HEI due to the computer modules that can adjust the ignition timing based upon the added sensors to the engine?

m55hv pump in stock pan - what oil pickup?

Trucks got the stock 7.25" oil pan. Installing a new Melling m55hv high volume pump that is slightly taller than the stock pump. Trying to determine what pickup will work. Looks like I need one that has a 5/8" tube diameter, and has only a 3/4" drop between the tube centerline and the bottom of...

    Muffler placement

Here's how mine is setup: Used a set of Walker 41809 spouts. Added an adapter since the muffler is designed with a 2.5" ID output and the spouts were the same way. So needed an adapter that was 2.5" OD to fit inside the muffler output.

    Muffler placement

I've got a set of Flowmaster 40 series on mine. Had no tips after the muffler.. just straight output... She just about droned at anything other than idle... Added a set of 12" turn downs that dump right on the axle and no drone now at all. Sounds great out the back. Now can finally think again...

    Engine bay clean up

I'd clean up everything that you can't normally get to. Like the engine crossmember and the firewall. Fenders and core support you can normally clean up without pulling anything. Maybe tuck up the wires a little bit to get them a little cleaner or add some split loom to give them a little more...

    Parts list

Just take a quick measurement of the tank to see if it would fit between the frame rails. I don't see why the a/c condenser wouldn't work. May be a slightly different size and you may need to modify or fab up some new mounting brackets for it, but as long as it isn't full of crud or leaking...

    bent 14bff axle tube... repair?

I'd definitely get someone with the accurate tools to give it a look see. May not be the tube itself, but the rim or the drum isn't sitting flat.

    Spark Plug Help.

Definitely use some penetrating oil if they haven't been changed in a good long while. Let it soak for a few, then try and get em out. Do your best to prevent letting the socket or extension start going off center. Broke a spark plug or two that way. I've had good luck just using a single 5-6"...

Lifting my 85, what do you think?

Found an old photo of my truck to help with your decision: That was at stock height with 32x11.50 R15 Yokohama Geolander AT/S tires on a set of 15"x10" Slot Mags with 4" Backspacing. Fenders have been slightly trimmed at the front and rear of wheel well. Previously had a set of 33" coopers...

Lifting my 85, what do you think?

33's will fit up a good portion of the wheel wells. Shouldn't have much issue on roads, but off them you'll probably have a bit of rubbing. 35's will rub everywhere and anywhere with only a 2" lift unless you do major cutting to the fenders.. i.e. like cutting a good solid 2-3" strip the whole...

    Can I rebuild it?

Depending on what type of engine stand you have, i just bolted it straight to the stand from the engine hoist. Had to trim down a few bolts to be just short enough to engage almost all the threads in the block without bottoming out.

Which light is the tail light?

Also, having the housings painted green will actually cause your taillights to be considerably dimmer since it won't reflect as well as silver or chrome.

Which light is the tail light?

Top bulb has two circuits. Low is the running light, high is brakes and turn signal. Bottom bulb is reverse only. Side wedge bulb is a running light as well. Front fenders are also a running light. Running lights come on only when the headlight switch is pulled out to the first position...
