4x4 High Hump Tunnel and 4x4 Cab section

2wd is different from 4wd. It seems as if none of the salvage yards around here have any inventory this old. Probably because of hurricane katrina and similar.

4x4 High Hump Tunnel and 4x4 Cab section

I need the length from the 4x4 tunnel. I'm swapping in a duramax and allison with transfer case. I'm looking at a 2" bodylift or more without the tunnel- and that's way too much.

Converting auto column to floor shifted

can anyone confirm the material of the early style shift bowl on a column shift tilt column? I'm thinking I can grind off the lug on the bowl and braze it up, but I need to know if its pot metal I can use silicon bronze and if it's aluminum I'll have to use something else.

1976 GMC C35 Sierra Classic Camper Special Tailgate & Trim

weird. It's so hard for me to know what is 'original' for the title and vin of my truck. My first square was heavily picked though, this one is much better but still looks like the bed has been changed. The more I learn the more I can spot out how many trucks are 'wrong'. Must drive all...

1976 GMC C35 Sierra Classic Camper Special Tailgate & Trim

I think you're correct. I randomly ran across a good looking GMC band last night for a good price so I picked it up. It was listed as 75-77 GMC. Not sure what 73-74 had, nor 78+ has.

1976 GMC C35 Sierra Classic Camper Special Tailgate & Trim

On the truck in the title, 1976 GMC C35 Sierra Classic Camper Special, what tailgate and trim should I have? The latches look like the second generation set- but the truck has the earlier style doors so I'd assume it would have the 1st generation type of latches. Also, the tailgate trim...

Factory Cruise in a '76 GMC

I just realized my '76 has factory cruise. Is this rare for this year? It has the mechanical speedo cable model and diaphragm on the inner fender + the cruise set button on the stalk. Pretty neat. I'm not going to use any of it, but just curious when was this available and if it worked well?

Converting auto column to floor shifted

is there anyway to get the part number for a blank shift bowl for the earlier columns? Is there any chance the bowl from a not tilt will work on a tilt? I can find non tilt floor shifted columns, but not tilt. My factory one is tilt- so I may be able to combine 2 into 1.

Converting auto column to floor shifted

Do you know if something like this would bolt onto the stock column? As in, how does the stock blinker lever bolt up? http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=50/category_id=478/mode=prod/prd50.htm that might be the least intrusive way to get my cruise switches.

Converting auto column to floor shifted

yes that's fine. I'm going to use a Lokar floor mounted shifter. entertaining the idea of switching to a much later column that would have wipers and cruise control on the stalk. This would help me out. but- I don't want a plastic column. So this may not work either.

Factory Cruise Control in a Non-Cruise Truck

bringing up an old thread... what years did the columns go from metal to plastic?

Converting auto column to floor shifted

Was a tilt floor shifted column ever offered factory? I'm going to rewire the entire truck with an American Autowire kit to remove the glass fuses- so I'm not too concerned about the wiring aspect.

Converting auto column to floor shifted

Can a '76 auto column be 'converted' to floor shifted? Basically I want to remove all the guts of the auto column and change the piece that holds the shift arms. Is this possible easily or should I just look for a new column?

    Fixing AC in 1976 C20 3+3

I could certainly see that happening. Especially my a/c doesn't blow the hardest, so I have been running it on high most of the time. I checked the blower fan and such, everything seems good. Maybe leaky ducting??

    Fixing AC in 1976 C20 3+3

got it to work! your diagrams are great and were a big help. the 30amp glass fuse in the barrel fuse holder took a dump. the holder was bad, not the fuse. so I shook and tapped it and it all started working. didn't even need freon, pressures looked great. Tomorrow I'll get a new...

    Fixing AC in 1976 C20 3+3

I know I haven't described the problem...it's because I don't know- yet. It just doesn't work. I'm going to start with the blower motor and work my way from there. I think that is a good place to enter as everything is based on the blower motor working. I appreciate all the diagrams- they...

    Fixing AC in 1976 C20 3+3

Gents, General question I know, but I want to try and fix the AC in my '76 as I think it will help the sale. Don't worry, I am replacing the truck with another square. Anyways- The heater works, and for the MOST part the blower motor does want I want as far as changing speeds. But it...

    Hood braces

I've been thinking about this lately. Every hood I've ever seen 73-80 is buckled, at least a little. What Im thinking of doing is bending it back straight carefully using some weight (probably my foot lol) and some blocks of wood. Either way- carefully and getting it straight. Then...

    73-76 Crewcab truck

Changing directions completely, and I think it's going to take a while to find what I'm looking for. Looking for a '73-'76 crewcab truck. Dually or single wheel, c20 or c30. I prefer a camper special with the camper special emblems. 2wd preferred, will look at 4wd though. Ideal...
