Getting ready to do a major tune up.

Those straps are a pain in the ass, whole job is a huge pain in the ass. What you guys are planning is way to much work. If you must have the gas out of the tank and the selector valve works pull a rubber hose and run a new one to a catch bin of some kind. Wrap a rag around a blowgun and...

A little upgrade for my other Chevy.

Those Impala SS cars get me all fired up. My former neighbor had like 8 of them stuffed in his garage. I really want one bad.

    My trucks a welder.....

I wish cell phones with cameras existed when I drove a Datsun pickup in high school. My new battery was too tall, I saw a glowing spot on the hood and was confused as shit. When it shut off it made more sense.

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

Hot Rod Magazine does alot of land speed racing coverage, I was never even remotely interested in it myself. After reading a little about the sport its really interesting what they build. That Camaro most likely has a 305 to keep it regulated to a certain class it competes in. If you think...

350 accelerates roughly and sometimes idles roughly

Im going to be away from the computer the rest of the day so I will leave you with this. Check everything again, all vacuum lines, connectors, fittings and even the gaskets. Make sure the bottom of the throttle body itself is flat. Grab the throttle shaft and see if you can move it around, if...

350 accelerates roughly and sometimes idles roughly

hold the can close to the throttle body, just use short little blasts. If you spray it directly into the throttle body it usually slows down the engine for some reason, not rev it up. If the idle is increasing as you spray that stuff on your throttle body that is a good indication of a...

350 accelerates roughly and sometimes idles roughly

Yeah, that thing that goes through the throttle body that has butterfly valves screwed to it. One end is connected to your throttle cable and the other has some springs and stuff on it.

350 accelerates roughly and sometimes idles roughly

A couple things lead me to believe you have a vacuum leak. The whistling sound is probably a vacuum leak. Vacuum leaks cause the engine to run lean so that explains the code. You mentioned that you rebuilt the throttle body, did it just get a rebuild kit or did you have the shaft fixed? The...

    350 to 454

The big blocks are more interchangeable than the small block stuff. The easiest way to do that swap has already been mentioned, the adapter plate for the throttle body. My gen IV engine came with a cast iron intake for a quadrajet that had a huge adapter that flows coolant through it, thats...

I love it man, next truck I get will be a 1 ton in the weeds. By the way you should static drop the shit out of it.

    another "Whats that noise?" thread

Try the Lucas oil engine restore stuff, I am very curious to see if it actually works like I have herd it does. My old big block had a similar problem, super low oil pressure. It finally just went one day, it was an ugly sound. I went as far as running straight weight oil in it with no change.

How do you guys battle rust?

I battle rust by living in Arizona. I dont even know what the fuck rust is.... A cactus crushing your truck, that is a possibility in Arizona.

    Injection or carb

Personally I am a fan of both but lean in the fuel injected direction. It all comes down to the vehicles purpose. Both systems are great if you apply them to the right conditions. If I bolted a big 750 demon carb on my big block I just built I would get a ton more power out of my little...

    82 c10 350, not getting any spark

It sounds like ignition module totally but if that does not fix it try a couple things I have encountered with my HEI. There is a ground strap, small flat piece of metal that goes from the outside of the metal part of your coil down through the plug part of your plastic distributor cap. That...

Squarebody Down! HELP - Member Roadside Assistance Volunteer Map

I was about to post something similar. If you break down and I come get you, we can park your truck right behind my truck thats been broken down for 6 months. There is plenty of tools here, but much more beer so we will most likely stand around drinking beer and talking about what we intend...

    K10/K1500 SM465 clutch job.

My motor mounts might have been worn out bad enough the engine just rocks back on its own. Try pulling the bolts that go through the motor mount, you should be okay doing that. Its not going to fall off the mounts and go anywhere.

    Whats it worth?

I would be on that deal like flys on shit. In this area a quad thats over 5 years old is just garbage, not that the machine isnt good. That stuff just does not hold value like a chevy pickup.

    turbocharging questions

Im trying to think of every reason why an old small block is better than a newer one, help me out. Provisions for a roller cam setup is a very good thing, one piece rear main seals are a better design also. You can argue that TBI heads are crap, I will agree with that. I would not say they are...

    turbocharging questions

If fin flies out of that turbo into the cylinder bore its just going to get mashed up. You know you want to see what happens just as much as I do with a 1 thousand dollar turbo kit from ebay. I worked on a 460 some guy dropped nuts into from the carb somehow and it just mashed them up, I...

    turbocharging questions

The whole setup screams "cheap". With that being said the 80 dollar fabricated aluminum valve covers on my price big block do fit and work exactly like the 400 dollar ones that look the same. Given the circumstances of your inquiry that 1k setup looks right up your alley. Why fabricate a...
