need help picking out a lift

If you are going to use your square off road 6" with 35's and 8" with 37's would be best to save your fender's unless you run skinny wheels and tire's. I just went out and pulled a tape on my blazer and it is 30 1/2 inches from the ground to the lip of the body , dead center of the door. I...

15 in wheels on 3/4 tons?

Back in the day we all ran 15x12 , 8 lug bart wheels , eaton wheels and clement wheels that had 3 1/2 inch back space , on our 8 lug trucks. The reason why was you could get 15 inch tires cheaper and they were everywhere and we liked the look of a lot of side wall with little wheels , ( times...

    Fitech

My sons buddy just installed the fitech kit with fuel pump and everything on his 77 longbed with a stocker gm crate motor and a eddie performer intake. He did the install himself , with the o/2 sensor just past the header collector and the return line into the filler neck. The truck started up...

Carb and Intake Upgrade for '84 K5(350c.i.)?

I am more of a 70's square guy but I have had the best luck on close to stock motors with the eddie performer intake and a quadrajet from either smi or jet. I am not a eddie carb fan , especially for off road use , (they flood out on side hills even with off road needle and seats).I am a fan of...

What lift should I get on the k20?

My blazer with 8 inch skyjacker springs and a longer shackles with a 1 inch 0 rates all around for a total of 9 inch lift , flexes great , with a great ride on the street , (no sway bar of course) , 75 mph on the highway is so sweet even my wife loves driving it. It flexes so far that i have to...

    Looking for an Engine!

You could look at the gm 12681430 truck engine , its just a nice stock 350 for 2,000.00. I think you can get them just about anywhere , try looking at crate engine depot , they seem to have a lot to choose from. Or you could find a good machinist and have a 350 built if you are after more power

    whats the best lift kit?

I have had good luck with skyjacker but there is a ton of people that like tuff country. I have ran, (back in the day), rancho , trailmaster , rough country , pro comp and they were to stiff for my liking. If you put the kit on yourself make sure you follow the torque specs on everything as not...

    FSJ front springs...

My kid and I are building an 84 blazer and have been messing around with different front springs. The problem you might have is the shackle angle when messing around with different length springs with a fixed front spring mount , (to long shackle is against the frame , to short and the shackle...

    Water Temp Question

Just a thought , my kids buddy has a 78 square with a new goodwrench stocker motor in it and he went for the cheap radiator shop 4 row replica with a stock fan and new clutch with a 180 t-stat and he was having the same deal , running at 200 degree's plus. I pulled an old stock 4 row out of one...

    Electric Choke

I put a jet quadrajet carb on my blazer and went to a ignition on 12 volt source and it works great. Back in the day holley carbs recommended wiring the power wire to your wiper motor , (it has 12 volts but only when the key is on). I dont think this is the text book way for a choke hot wire...

    Another lift question

Wow , 14 inch lift blocks , 54 inch tires , 6 inch body lift , where did that come from ? Just trying to add my experience with lift blocks to help the OP do it right as well. No reason to get butt hurt about someone else's opinion or view.

    Another lift question

I have to go with bucket on this one , properly installed rear lift blocks ,(as long as they are not to tall) , are fine. I have had many 4x4 lifted square's over the years and 90% of them had lift blocks in the rear.My 77 crew cab is not a wheeler , (mall queen) , but it has a hog block putting...

    1978 k10 Suspension lift help

Your are all good to go , same. I have had good luck with skyjacker soft ride , never have had tuff country but lots of guys like them as well , cheap lift kits = crappy ride like rough country.

    Tires.

swampers are the meanest looking tire out today but I love the look and performance of my old monster mudders on 14 wide wheels , they throw cowpies towards the sun. For sure swampers if you are into the mud and a mean look.

    Steering Issue - need help!!

I think you are on the right track , I have had some square's with that same sound and that was the problem , (broken center pin). If you already have the box off , (check for crack's , like hot rod pc said) then look at ord's steering box brace kit , (a must have imo. with big rubber). I have...
