    Gear/Tire Size/Motor/Tranny Combo

I have 4.88's in my crew cab with 44's and a 450hp 454 , turbo 400 and it is great all around. My blazer has 4.56's with 38's , 400 sbc. , turbo 400 , and same thing , good gear on hwy. and off road. I will say that the 4.88's cook the gear oil pretty good when going down the hwy. for longer...

    Driveshafts and Lifts

My girls truck has a 6inch on it and it drive's good , but I may put crossover on it anyway,(stronger and improves steering all around imo.) I would for sure go crossover on anything over 6 inch lift, (just me). Her truck is really sweet , 78 silverado , roller motor.

    Driveshafts and Lifts

My blazer has 9 inch , all suspension lift , built for street and off road use , so this is what I did. lowered the t-case 1 inch custom built driveshafts front end not rolled up rear end rolled up (perches) sway bar removed Rolling the front up make's your square drive like crap , (mine is...

    K30 np205

Right now you have the slip yoke in the drive shaft , not the t-case. I myself am not a fan of the slip in the t-case , (they tend to vibrate on lifted square's) and they are not as strong for hard use off road.

    Headers

Like shortbed said , dont cheap out on headers , I perfer doug thorley tri y's , bolt them on and re torque once , done deal. really good routing as well.If you want to save a bit go with hedman elite , I tried those on my blazer to save a bit of cash , (my wheeler) and they have been great. You...

What does it look like if I move my front axle forward 1"?

I did not move my axle forward but i needed more lift so i cut some 1 inch steel stock and drilled it the same size of my centering pin , then got a longer centering pin and ran it through the block and spring pack , good to go.

    Confused about pitman arm

With a 4 inch lift you only need a raised steering arm. look at your drag link , you want it to be as flat as possible , if it is flat thats as good as it gets and check everything else as well.

    SRW to DRW

In the 70's all 1 tons were narrow spring hanger dually and single. My crew cab is not a dually but it has the narrow hanger's.I am not sure about the 85 but a tape will tell you.

    Cause of loose steering ? 8”lift 40”tires

Hey trey , nice blazer , weather you have six inch springs or eight inch springs big rubber is big rubber , (big time weight out there over stock) . If it was me I would go through the whole front end and check everything , (like the other guy's on here said). I would also pull the steering box...

    Best mud tire?

imo. if you want a mud/snow tire I would look at the bigger side lugs for mud and a tight center tread for snow , with sipe's in the tread , (good all around) . I would look at the dick cepek extreme country's , goodyear duratrac's or maybe the kelley safari tsr's , tread compound play's a part...

    Best mud tire?

I have to agree with 77 k20 on this one , I live in the snow country and mud tires are not the way. That being said the toyo mt's do way better than the km2's if you have to run a mud tire. I have a real steep drive way and I took my big bad chevy out to get some things and when I got home I...

    Body Armor

new ones , I built a winch box and fitted it to frame and went from there . I had a lot of time to mess with it , my blazer was pieces at the time

    Best mud tire?

I like the toyo mt , they do well in most all conditions and seem to last fairly well . I have the bfg km2's on my new truck and they are lasting good as well but they are loud as hell and suck in the snow , the toyo's are a better tire imo. The big mudder's are loud , soft around corner's but...

    Ball joint ?

I dont run anything moog , (Garbage). You have to watch ACDelco as well now , they farm out to crappy companies in todays world and put that junk in there box. That being said , the ACDelco professional joints seem to have good reviews so let us know how it goes. All my square's have the spicer...

    Ball joint ?

After thinking about it , it could be a bad taper on the upper joint as well.

    Ball joint ?

I have never seen that , that being said I only torque the spanner to 50lbs and the rest the same as you called out ,(70 lower and 100 upper). Maybe the lower ball joint is not seated all the way , the crappy parts we get today maybe the joint itself has a bad taper to it and not seating far...

    Popping/thumping in steering.

My girl's 78 square was doing the same thing and after checking all the crap it turned out to be a broken centering pin on the driver's side leaf spring. The popping was from the u-bolt top plate sliding on the spring , it slid so little that it was hard to see but it sure was loud.
