454 with 10 bolt rear end?

Back in the day , I sunk a bunch of money into my 12 bolt , super brute limited , Richmond gear's , alloy axle's , etc. With a 425 horse small block , auto tran's and 35x14.50 ground hawg's I used to spray that 12 bolts gut's out on a regular basis , (three times to be exact), I was hard on it...

    Quick fuel or not.

I am not a fan of msd control boxes for 4x4 trucks that are used off road. I had one myself on one of my square's that was causing problems that I chased for a while and it turned out to be the control box. I go wheeling with my buddies all the time and have seen another msd box with problems as...

    Quick fuel or not.

If it was me I would start by going though the ignition first. Make sure you have enough total advance and check your curve , if that is not right your big block will be sluggish. I always do ignition first before any carb. adjustments. I am also not a fan of any ignition control boxes on mild...

    1984 K5 Blazer-ChromeMoly Axle Upgrade Question...

Do you have a driveshaft shop near you ? 150 for a yoke is bank , a driveshaft shop or wrecking yard or maybe a parts store would be way cheaper. I just stick with spicer stuff because I believe that they are stronger and maybe a driveshaft shop or parts store can usually can order spicer stuff...

Make it your own !!! Build it YOUR way !!!

I am a round headlight fan and that's all I would purchase for myself , but I love all square's period , even stocker's. My family is into round headlight lifted stuff and we where just talking a few day's ago how we should start looking for a 2 wheel drive stepside and build a slammed , big...

    1984 K5 Blazer-ChromeMoly Axle Upgrade Question...

My plow truck , (for 16 years) ,was a 78 square , short bed with a 4 inch lift and 33's with a western blade with a dana 44 up front and a 12 bolt out back , 203 case , part time converted and I had little or no trouble with breakage. That being said , a yoke and a new rear driveshaft ain't no...

    Loosing steering!!

Have a shop check the camber and give you the number and you can bring it within spec yourself with shims , then take it back and see if you are within spec. With a 4 inch lift you should be able to get to spec. , trucks with big lifts you cant get to spec. but you can get close sorry again ...

    Loosing steering!!

"Wrong" , there are shims under the front spring that adjust camber . Look at the bottom of your springs where they sit on the axle perch. Most if not all after market springs have degree shims hooked to them. Even on a stock , (no shims) , truck you can change the camber with shims under the...

    Loosing steering!!

Agree with bucket , lose the draglink and go back to stock , s-style not needed with a raised arm. Your caster might be an issue , I built my girls square with 35's and a 6 inch lift and it drove ok but it felt loose , ( she was 16 at the time) , so I wanted to make it better. What I did was...

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

Just picked up a new engine for my k5 ,(still on the garage floor), and I was thinking I need it a bit quieter . I have had tons of flow masters ,(40's) on my trucks and I do like the way they sound and I have the 50 series on my superbee right now and they sound ok as well. But now I am kind of...

Let’s talk bout ORD flex [emoji123]

They do really well for a semi cheap spring but the alcan's or deaver's are for sure a better spring. I have deaver's and air bag combo on the back of my crew cab and they are sweet.

    company "high angle drive line"

Just throwing some info. out for you guy's , on my off road lifted square's, (which have a lot of travel) When I go to get the front driveshaft made I dont just get it lengthened I have them change out the yoke and the spline post as well. The stock yoke is around 6.5 inches long and I upgrade...

15" rims over 8 lug 10 bolt front and 14 bolt

Look for wheels that are 3 1/2 back space , summit has a few , bart super trucker's , raceline , us wheel. I did the grind in front and ran drop in 1/8 or 1/4 inch spacer's as well. My crew cab has bart 15x12 super truckers.

    lets talk 14 bolts....

Yes , so you put it back on the carrier at the same spot , (everything needs to go back the same). Actually my detroit is not bad at all for dragging a tire as long as you are not towing something. The only time it wants to drag a tire is when you hammer on it. Even in a hot parking lot...

    lets talk 14 bolts....

Just to give you some more info. on a detroit locker , you do not have to set up the gear's , it's a drop in , but you have to have a open carrier. A full float 14 bolt has collar nuts to adjust the carrier side to side so you can mark them to get the carrier back to it's sweet spot. You must...

    Building a 350

If it was me , for a fun small block , I would bump up to a 383 , deck the block , get new vortec head's , run d-dish pistons at 0 deck , (9to1 comp. or so) with a .041 head gasket , (quench) , smallish roller cam , (if in budget) and then good intake , headers , etc...... and you would have a...
