    Lets see your lifted trucks

Thanks , I am going to download my pic's this weekend and show our build in progress , been at it for a month now and still have a bit to go. I think I am going to have to give it to my 16 year old boy , he is going nuts over it. He has a 1974 truck but he has been working on the blazer with me...

12.5 tires on 12in wide rims

I had 33's on a 12 inch wide wheels on my 72 blazer a long time ago and it looked great , but you had to be carefull off road , catching the lip of the wheel on rocks. Now on the blazer I am building as we speak I have 40 inch gumbo monster mudders on 15x14 wide wheels and it looks bad ass. (I...

Thinking about going the steel wheel and hub cap route

It was a long time ago , but as i recall the were 135 each and I already had the caps , I will try and dig up a pic. You can call some one like bart wheels and have them put new rings , ( any width) on your stock centers , I think.

Thinking about going the steel wheel and hub cap route

Back in the day I had a 1972 4x4 blazer and I had stockton wheel make me some 15x12 wide steel wheels and painted them the same color as the blazer and I ran the small , dog dish hub caps inside , it looked great. I personally really like the deep wheel look with the stock caps.

4x4 guys with a 73-76 front axle and steering,

Mine is a 1974 k-20 , dana 44 , and it has the long tie rod from the drivers side and a little short one on the pass side and the tie rod sits on top of the knuckle arms , nuts on bottom and pulling a tape from the center of the tie rod bolt , (drivers side) , to the center of the hole in the...

    Finally decided on motor build

9 , 9.5 to 1 yes if its your everyday go to work truck , 10 to 1 and up if it's your race gas week end drag truck. 5.7 rods are great in a 400 , (less stress for the crankshaft) , but you have to have right piston's for a 400 with 5.7 rod's . Basicly if you want to have a bad ass street ...

    Finally decided on motor build

Depends on what you are after! Pump gas or not. 10.56 compression is high for pump gas but you do have a lot of cam so you might drop the cylinder pressure enough to get away with it. Those heads you can use but if you want to make real deal power I would not run those heads , go aftermarket...

    Cheapest 6" lift

Summit has a superlift , (not the best but ok) for 650.00 , (k440).Comes with springs , block's , u-bolts , steering arm , shock's.You can make your own drop down for the brake lines for now and lower your sway bar yourself as well for now (or just pitch it).You may have to do somthing to your...

new to the engine building community

Yea , I just did'nt want to get in to deep with everything unless somebody asked. Hawkattack2007 asked if you could get to 400 to 500hp with a 383 and I was giving my two cents about getting close to that on pump gas in a daily driver but he wont get close to that if he runs out to a machine...

I have as well but just two square decked quench motor's and did not have to do anything with the intake , I guess it just depends on what your set up is.

Well , all I can say is if you want a pump gas (Quench) motor for the street , (not race) , that will get with the program , 98% of the time there will be decking involved or even if you want a motor built to top quality standards you will have to deck. You ever wonder why some stock 350's , say...

new to the engine building community

Nope , most of the time you will not take off enough to have any problem's , (have done two decked block's so far) and if you dont square deck the block a quench motor is pretty much out.

Crate motor's are a nice , easy way to go but buyer beware. Most , (not all) are mass produced , so a lot of them dont put out what they say they do.They run good and last but sometimes are dogs. A buddy of mine bought a 330hp , vortec gm crate motor from summit and it ran well but was a total...

    Headers??

I only run doug's or doug thorley's on a truck. They are costly but you never have any problems , like the cheap headmans and hookers. Doug thorley's are my number one , (way thicker material).

new to the engine building community

You dont want to go with the double humps , the vortec's are much better , ( like hot rod pc said) , but if you have the money after market heads smoke the vortec's , like , afr , world , eddie , dart , etc... If you want the bad boy street motor on pump gas you should build a quench motor. You...
