When you put it like that :hahano:

It has two. They match the picture I put above. It has one. I guess it's the Scottsdale? So it's probably something that didn't come on my truck, correct?

I'm going to keep responding to myself with the answers to my own questions in case any other SB noobs run across this. Answers for previous post: The speedometer cable was just not pushed in all the way. It goes on way further than you'd think. The Edelbrock kick down adapter appears to do...

    Switching to dumbo mirrors

I found a couple templates for their location. It seems like in pictures most people line it up in the middle with the wing-window support bar. The factory location is a few inches forward of that. I didn't get the bracket that goes inside the door (yet). If I do get it, I think that will...

    Rear Window size question

I just got a one piece rubber gasket (no groove). I may live to regret that. I've done this before on a Toyota so I'm familiar with the process but I'm sure the fit won't be easy.

    Rear Window size question

Yeah I tried a couple glass places. Their suppliers don't have them. LMC has it and charge more for shipping than the glass but I guess that's to be expected.

Kick panels with 6.5" speaker pods

I was wondering how those work too. I used to install stereos in the late 80's and we never did that back then. There's no depth behind it without some work. There's tons of room in the door and 6x9's are underrated. That was back in a time where nobody cared about cutting holes in their doors...

    Rear Window size question

I'm looking to replace my rear window for a 1974 K-20. It has a slider. I don't know if it's factory. I wanted to change it to a solid window. Everywhere I look it's called a "large" window. They approx. the glass size to be 16"x64". The problem is that is beyond the size of the outer edge of...

Well the speedometer is fixed - sort of. Can any of you sharp eye mechanics spot the problem? I'm thinking this was routed in a way that it was laying on the exhaust. It should be fine now but I'll be keeping an eye on it. Replacing the cable wasn't any problem but it was a little finicky to...

Geeze people. I get it, you like the Quadrajet. You hate the Edelbrock. :hahano: Please, let it go. I promise to rebuild the Quadrajet when I've ironed out all my other problems. ;) For now, I'll take what works. This sounds very plausible. I know the geometry was slightly different and...

On this topic - someone in my area was selling two transfer cases from an old Blazer, 1 good and 1 for parts for $100. Nailed it. I know enough to be dangerous. But I've figured out more complicated things and thanks to YouTube, I can learn the wrong way to fix most anything. :hahano: I just...

Finally took it for another drive! So Second drive - way better than the first! I actually made it to the gas station and got gas. AND new problem list. * I was thinking my temp gauge wasn't working - It eventually did start working when I turned the car off. I need to inspect my thermostat...

OK - I found this cheapo bracket on Amazon. It needed a tiny bit of modification but seems to work ok. I may end up making a non-adjustable version based on this design. I have two concerns. 1) I guess I didn't notice with the stock bracket (because the geometry appears similar) is how tweaked...

I see what you're saying. I liked it being like stock and tucked under the air-cleaner. Back to the drawing board.

Should the windshield wipers park on a 1974?

I finally got around to adding wiper blades so I could try out the wipers. They seem to work but the speed didn't really change much from slow to fast. Also when I turn them off they just stop wherever I turned them off. Are they supposed to park? Is there an intermittent? I'm afraid to even...

My latest change. I didn't like the spring going forward and I also didn't like that I didn't have redundancy on the spring. I made a little bracket that has a little ear on it to keep it from rotating up. This puts the springs in a mostly stock position. It doesn't touch anything or rub on...

Is that what that tank is? OK - so I'm fine to just connect it to an open vacuum line on the carb, right?

Update: I machined a little tube to bypass the fuel tank selector. I think the driver (default) is nearly empty so I think it's draining the fuel line or something like that - OR maybe the switch itself has a leak. Either way, that seemed to do the trick for getting my fuel line to actually draw...

I'm really having no luck with this. After we got it running last week, now it's no longer primed. To make matters even more strange it doesn't seem like it's even trying to draw fuel. Almost the opposite. I will go through about half a cup of gas putting a little in the intake. It will start up...

Help. I'm trying to understand what this line here does. It appears to go down the the little reservoir on the firewall radiator support where it then goes down to a hardline that goes all the way back to the gas tanks and hits a T-junction to each tank. The T is next to the fuel tank switch...

First real drive! Not tragic but not good. I think I need carb advice.

Weekend Update: I switched out the fuel pump. I thought it went well but but then I got nothing out it (it was not primed). My dad came over and brought his knowledge of carbs with him. We started pouring a little gas in to the carb to get it to fire up and after 4 or 5 stalls it started drawing...

Those mystery bolt holes don't seem to exist on other frames I see. Here's a pretty clean frame - that big hole is the big bolt on mine (he removed one of his tanks apparently). I wonder what they had there. I think they had a camper on this so maybe one of those brackets it ties down to. I'll...

First real drive! Not tragic but not good. I think I need carb advice.

Just to branch off another question - while inspecting the fuel lines - the left/right tank switching mechanism is higher than my current fuel level (about mid tank height but I only have about 5 gallons of gas on the right tank) - I did get a dribble of gas out of the tank (the other tank is...

Good tips. I did watch videos on that holder bolt thing - which I think I do have. Which is of course behind the hard fuel line. Before I even tried to find TDC, I unplugged the hose going into the fuel pump. It appears to be higher than my current gas level and nothing came out. Since this...

I just picked up a new pump - so I have no doubt it will be the fuel sock on the pickup! :hahano: I can't even imagine what that will take to fix - remove the bed? fun. I will ignore the lobe comment entirely.
