No math major here, just a machinist. Do you have a set of pitch gauges (tap and die sets typically have a set of them) and a caliper? Even with just a caliper if you measure the minor diameter of the hole (or you could use known size pins or drill bit shanks like pins) that can provide a...

Could it be metric? M14 or M12 both can be had in 1.5 pitches, which converts to 16.93tpi. 1/4npt is 18tpi, with a basic major diameter of .540. 1/2npt is a basic major of .840.

Got a photo? I'm not a big block guy but a 1/2" bolt sounds rather large for a bolt on component. I'd suspect 3/8-16. Thats what (on small blocks at least) is used on the water pump/brackets.

Is this fender original or aftermarket?

I managed to find some pictures of hood undersides on some BaT listings 1973 1974 And my 76 with its original hood

Where does this dash part go?

If it's what I'm thinking it should be the braces here to the brake pedal box support.

Is this fender original or aftermarket?

As far as the hoods go, and the 73-78 hoods in particular I am not sure of any earmarks to differentiate OE vs aftermarket. However they only have been making them for maybe five years or so, so I'd doubt there are a ton of aftermarket ones out there. At least compared to 79-80 (both OEM and...

3.08 Gears. What to Swap to?

3.42-3.73 I think would be satisfactory for your usage. With the 6.55:1 first (or low) of the sm465 and if that’s not enough you have low range with the transfer case to get something moving.

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

The clamshell pullers are used on carrier bearings, if you are reusing a carrier, or on Dana axles they sometimes put the shims inbetween the carrier and the bearing, instead of the housing and the outer race. So to make a shim change requires pulling the bearing. And to pull the inner pinion...

Engine Block Heater for SBC 350

Back when 6 volt vehicles were still mainline people would install 4 cell 8 volt batteries to give them a little extra cranking power. That was more of a “shade tree” type thing to do though. There is the old tales of maintaining small fires under the oil pan to warm it up.

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

It’s not much, on the setup bearings I have made it has been from .0005 to .0015 I’ve had to hone out. Not much at all. Just a nice slip fit. I did the ones for the 79s 12 bolt on the Sunnen hone, the ones for my friends 14b sf I did with a hillbilly hone. Some folks like to use the old pinion...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

4.88s? What’s the reason for that if I may ask? I would go solid pinion spacer myself. You can make your own setup bearings if you have access to a Sunnen hone, or 3 stone hone (like a wheel cylinder or cylinder hone) or hillbilly hone (Emery cloth folded on a rod with a slit down the middle)...

What have you done to your square lately??

I did know about the hubcaps, whenever it was first pointed out to me, the next logical progression was to have to count the “lugs” every time I saw a van with them. Can’t remember the last time I have seen a pickup with them. Did see 3 or 4 years ago a 7 lug F250 that was parked next to me at...

What have you done to your square lately??

I cannot validate it, but my late uncles' truck was a 97 F150, it had the exhaust exiting in front of the rear tire. I had thought it was just something that a PO had done because the factory system had fallen off or something. Until I saw another F150 around here that was the same, so I got...

What have you done to your square lately??

In Missouri Saint Louis city , Saint Louis county, Saint Charles county, and Jefferson county require emissions testing, 1996 and newer for gas and 1997 and newer for diesel, GVWR 8500lb and under. So everything I own is exempted due to age or weight. Statewide for safety inspections. But the...

    2 post shop lift

There are at least two guys at the shop that have 2 posts in their units, one in a 20x50 (like mine) and another in a 15x50. So I’m guessing the slabs are thick enough for one (I’d hope so). In my mind the 15 wide unit is kind of nice for one since it can only go in one spot left to right...
