    Gas to diesel

The answer is a 4-53T 2 stroke Detroit of course. For simplicity, and ease of the swap the a Cummins really is probably the best way forward. Duramax’s are cool, but they kind of are a packaging nightmare, compared to an inline engine imo.

Square body chevy truck gear ratio

An 85 is likely a 14 bolt semi float axle. It could be a full float too, but I’d lean towards SF. If you can get a picture of the rear wheel of it has a hub that stick out proud of the wheel or not that will determine that. Or of the rear differential cover. Anyways, 3.55 is not an available...

    04 LM7 into 87 K5

If you have the speed sensor before the transfer case there will have to be some way to tell the speedo it’s in low vs high range to correct the reading. If the speed sensor is reading from the output of the transfer case it will read correctly regardless of high or low, as it’s reflecting the...

Old man constantly asked to drop his truck.Any stock height C10s left in the world??

Maybe it’s just me, but it takes quite a bit to make a vehicle something I just outright don’t care for. I generally like stockers, lifted, and lowered about the same. For example (hope bucket and strick don’t mind me using their photos): @bucket ‘s K30: @Strick ’s C20 And the Yellowstone...

FWIW here are some photos of a couple (I assume different Sarge trucks from the net) Some further searching, these were offered by Motortown Corporation to GMC dealers. Photos from this thread on 67-72

What new tools have you got lately?

These days there are sure a lot of options for bi-directional scan tools in that range. I’ve gone back and forth on if I should get one [bi-directional scan tool], for me it’s a tough sell since the only obd2 vehicle I have is my 2nd gen ram. Really for it a DRBIII would be the best, or an...

    8x165.1 rims on 8x6.5?

165.1mm = 6.5" Verify the hub hole diameters. Dodges have about a 1/4" larger diameter hub hole than the Chevys. Can't recall how fords stack up to the others regarding that. Dodge (or Ram) are still using 8x6.5(165.1) bolt pattern on the 2500/3500 trucks.

1976 Chevy Van G30 (Wayne Busette) turn signal switch

Since they denote a tilt and non tilt option I’d assume there is a difference. Seems to be the lighted vs non lighted. I believe the non tilt columns use a fiber optic cable to light the indicator instead of a bulb in the column itself. The best reason I can say on why they used the older...

1976 Chevy Van G30 (Wayne Busette) turn signal switch

I believe the extra green wire is for a light bulb (for the shift PRND21 indicator) Is yours an automatic or manual transmission? The G and P series vans used a lot of older parts, or parts that are visually similar to the older trucks. Here is one that has the half moon connector but no...

Pinion setting tool. I only had my time I to making it, I'd honestly recommend just getting pinion depth set by trying shims and reading the pattern with setup bearings. Especially we with how much the commercial ones cost.
