1977 C20 Heavy duty with 11.15 drums?
Not really a factor in this case, until the introduction of the 9.5 14b SF all 3/4 tons were 10.5 full floats. J55 is the RPO code for HD brakes. You have the JB6 brakes and 11" drums. JB6 master reservoir walls are straight up and down, JB7 has a bulge in-between the bails.- legopnuematic

In my opinion you’d be better off with a full replacement frame. I feel as there is great potential to make things worse trying to graft two frames together. Not that it couldn’t be done, or hasn’t been. Just not really a weekend project type deal. A donor frame is nice as you can clean and...- legopnuematic

Slow cranking when trying to start
Since it is still yet to be answered: 10-11 degrees of timing is not likely going to cause poor cranking unless if you have extremely high static and dynamic compression.- legopnuematic

whats every body using.. looking for a new stereo head unit
I've had it up to 90+ passing before. At least with the roads around here I wouldn't want to cruise at that kind of speed. But with the 3.55 gears and 35s (34.5 true diameter) 95 is only 2300rpm so there is a fair big of headroom as far as rpm is concerned, about 130 would be at 3200rpm.- legopnuematic

32° is going to be your total advance, that is your base timing + mechanical advance. So if you are base timed at 12°, you want 20° of mechanical advance to get to 32° The vacuum advance should be disconnected (carb port plugged) when setting both initial and checking mechanical advance...- legopnuematic

What would you pay for this truck?
That C20 isn't bad, but its got its share of skeletons in the closet. Its been bodyworked and repainted before, you can see overspray from not great masking around. Right where the lower trim and wheel arch trim meet you can see white on the wheel arch trim. With the checking and bubbles there...- legopnuematic

They are a bit tricky to get to. Deep socket and a 3" extension should do it though. Drivers side. To left is the dash, above the vent holes Passenger side.- legopnuematic

My 76 I have a Sony AM/FM/tape head unit I got at a garage sale for $5. I don’t believe it had ever been installed in a vehicle before. I added a FM modulator and then a Marine Bluetooth receiver controlled by the same toggle. Set radio to correct freq, hit switch, blocks the antenna and pipes...- legopnuematic

Why did GM do this???
Short bolts don't stretch the same as long bolts do, so long bolts+ spacers allows proper clamping load I see prairie drifter beat me too it.- legopnuematic
