how hard is it to rebuild a 205 - what might be needed from a shop

The harbor freight press will be fine.I haven’t found anything on a square that the 12 ton press wouldn’t do.Used it to rebuild a Dana 60 and 14 bolt.Cost a 100$ on sale.

V Belt Suggestions - Fan spacing, pulley sizing, belt routing

7 blade fan is much more efficient than the 3 blade.Get the heaviest duty fan clutch you can. Like off the 6.2 diesel,or 454.

how hard is it to rebuild a 205 - what might be needed from a shop

I can carry the 205 off the ground, but not the SM 465.It has to be hip level. That thing is nasty. There’s a decent video by Jeb on YouTube taking down and rebuilding his 205.He also did the shift rails and twin stick.

    Front yoke hitting crossmember

Stupid question, but is the metal case or outer shale present over the top of the polyurethane bushing on your cross member? If so,I’m not sure what could of changed? Looks like there’s enough thread on mounting bolts, you could use some 1/4” plate for shims under the feet of the adapter.

    Questionable Engineering

It’s a real pain sometimes, working on our squarebody trucks. However,if it was to easy,I don’t know if these trucks would mean as much as they do.I have a relationship with my truck and it’s very personal. She can be a real pain in my side, but more often than not, she’s great. If she was to...

Power trax no slip locker advise

I think it’s a great idea.A 2 wheel drive with a real locker will go a lot of places and surprise you. Ive never used that locker, but I hear it’s reliable and easy to install.

Advice 94, Z-71, 1/2 ton Rear Diff locker install

Eaton makes sound products.I would stay away from the gov lock period. I say buy the best you can afford on a traction adder.I second not liking the idea of rear axle failure.

    Z Bar issues SM465 - 350 - NP208

Did you find out where to get rebuild parts for the zbar? Being one side is on the frame and the other on the trans,or block, every zbar I’ve ever seen looks like that.Poor design with to much movement. I was looking at going to hydraulic shift set up.

Rear Leaf Center Pin and Clamps

A standard grade 5 bolt will work.I like grade 8,just cause. The sole purpose is keeping the axle assembly from sliding on the leaf. Fine thread would be a better choice with a small amount of blue thread locker. A vice and a grinder works well.Small amounts and keep checking.Ad far as...

Advice 94, Z-71, 1/2 ton Rear Diff locker install

All rear 10 bolts I know of are 30 spline. It’s only the front 10 bolt that is 28 spline. Front 10 bolts are 28 spline from 77’ to 89’ I believe, then 30 spline after. However,if you’re going so far to add a locker, might as well refurb the bearings, seals and brakes.(take a look at least).And...

1986 C10- Is it reliable enough for a daily driver?

He probably didn’t even really wanna sell it,but this economy blows for so many people.Maybe he thinks the 14k will make him feel better? The engine and serpentine system probably 5k. For a daily driver,a Toyota car works pretty good. Then you can buy a different squarebody, preferably a K and...

    2in lift with 33 or 4in with 35s

I had a 88 suburban with alcan 2” lift springs front and back.Used offroad design’s h.d. shackles and rancho 9000 shocks. Was a super sweet ride.Probably the best riding square body I’ve ever had. Ran 33” tires. No steering correction.A 4” lift would need steering correction
