Making my 1990 Suburban bullet proof. What do I need to do?

I looked at your post again. To answer the 2nd part....there’s not much there to make bullet proof on your engine.Making sure your wiring is nice and tight, not exposed,in good shape.Adding a 2nd battery for more reserve is easy.As Blackbeard said, use quantity parts.I know it’s cold now,but since...

Making my 1990 Suburban bullet proof. What do I need to do?

I dig it.Into the same type of wheeling myself.First I would focus on your survival, not unless you want someone else’s driving your ride. Water, throw in some protein bars, life straw, warm clothes and a way to start a fire.First aid kit. Everyone has mentioned most of the parts to carry.Good set...

OPTIONS for bench seat and carpet -

I’ve been in this same dilemma for quite awhile. Was gonna do a bench, then ended up using a split bench from 88’ Chevy truck, nope.I got with Corbeau and chose trailcat buckets with a ladder bracket.Going to mount a tuffy console.Waiting on things to be delivered or shipped is always the worst.

    Edelbrock 1406 Fuel leak

I ran into a similar situation and it was my module. They just go bad sometimes for whatever reason.I’d keep that 175$ and do the carb yourself. There is so much help on YouTube and in this forum. Besides, you’ll know how to do it next time there’s issues or just maintaining it.The 1406 is a good...

    NP205 experts

Main Reason:In the event that you break a rear driveshaft/ujoint,you can drive on the front driveshaft w/o all the fluid leaking out. They’re just as strong as a fixed yoke.

    NP205 experts

Many GM applications had NP 205 with a fixed yoke after 1980.I’ve had 2.One came out of a 1984 GMC k35,cab and chassis, figure 8,and the current case in my truck is from a 1985 Chevy K-30,crew cab, round pattern.I know rear outputs are interchangeable. And yes, round pattern fixed yoke 205s are...

    Tilt steering question

Got the tilt steering column put in,and it cleaned up nicely. Was surprised it was in a salvage yard.Maybe its cause it’s a real pain to do the swap.At least it was for me.Repining connections was a stabbing self with screwdriver fest until I figured out an easier way.So now it’s done and...

Thanks for the confirmation.Any ideas on the column shifter assembly? Is that affecting my ignition being able to turn with out a key?

    Tilt steering question

Today I started a swap on a tilted steering column. The column is out of an 83-84 suburban, automatic. My truck is a 84’,standard.So far good progress has been made.Blinkers, wipers work, however, the key is backwards, starts when should be off and turns off in run..I believe this is the ignition...

    Pulling transfer case question

Yes,it will leak fluid. The adapter will be full of it.I would leave bolts in it and spread it enough for the fluid to drain out.

1987 V30 Rear Brake drum to disk conversion

I did this conversion in July.Didn’t use a adjustable valve.Replaced the combination valve on the front c.m with a disk-disk pv4 combo from summit.Did the same m.c. and 4 new calipers and rotors from rock auto.New brake lines...all of it.Had the same issues as you described.Kept driving short...

Rear brake hose replacement, 1973 C10

I say why mess with any of the old.You can do all new lines and hoses for 100-150$.Stainless,top of the line.I tried messing with my 40 year old brake lines and hoses, looked at cost to replace it all and said why am I doing this. Hardest part of it all was bleeding the system.
