Manny I vote to go with the middle one. It matches the paint scheme and trim. FWIW.

    Small block 400

Back in the day the 202's were the heads to have if you wanted performance. But now, I would go with a set of aluminum heads. You will get better results. You have to love technology. As far as the overbore question. I would not go over .30 on the 400. I honestly think you might be able to go...

GM Front 10 bolt Ball joint adjuster sleeve socket?

Make sure you check Rock auto on prices as well. I ordered my front end parts from there and saved a lot of money. I saved like $100 just on the ball joints by mail ordering them instead of buying locally. I also used their discount code too.

    Q-Jet choke plate stuck open

^Nice catch George! I didn't notice it but you are right. It should be hooked up where the outlined arrow is pointing to. I couldn't see it due to the pics so I went back and looked closely. You can see it in one of the pics on the first page.

    Help! Pinion Bearing question

Ok so I have been doing some online research. I downloaded and printed Yukon Kit Installation Instructions. It appears, according to page 10, that there is a crush sleeve design and a preload shim design. It appears that I have the preload shim design instead of the crush sleeve design. Ok so...

That is some good advice HR and Green79! You guys are absolutely right. The price of aluminum heads has come down thank goodness. I have heard good things about the Promaxx heads. A lot of guys are using them around here. Linville as far as the rockers go. Wait until you buy the cam and go with...

    Help! Pinion Bearing question

Here is a pic of the inner axle seal. Here is a pic of the carrier with the Spartan installed. Notice the bearing race laying on the table next to the carrier. The outside is burned a little from turning. I suspect that someone accidently installed the lower pinion bearing without using any...

    The Silver Surfer Build

Thanks for clarifying that info. Could you imagine the price of a vehicle if the car companies were responsible for the maintenance and repairs of a vehicle? If you were a mechanic, you would have some serious job security. Yeah. Wow. :Insane:

    The Silver Surfer Build

I have heard of that info being put on a police accident report and given to insurance company. Say you were speeding or drag racing at the time, and lost control for whatever reason, and crashed. Guess what happens when they get it? If you are lucky your premium just goes waaay up. More than...

    Help! Pinion Bearing question

This is what I expect to see when I press that lower bearing off. What I did not expect to see was shims between that lower bearing race and the actual housing itself.:whymewhyme: There was also shims on the upper bearing between it and the race on the actual pinion itself. I figured those...

    Help! Pinion Bearing question

Ok I am DONE f***ing with this thing today! I am ready to beat my head against a tree. I am not happy at all. This ring and pinion has had some problems. Ok on the carrier end. On one side the bearings race and shims fall off of it. On the other side they are tighter than bark on a tree. We...

    Help! Pinion Bearing question

Ok so we got the carrier out. We put it on the bench and I tried to pull the bearing off by hand. It came off!:shakehead: Uh oh.Hmmm. So I looked at the three shims. The inner one was cracked in half! So it was a good thing that we had to pull the carrier out. Now the other side is on tight. So...

    Q-Jet choke plate stuck open

In the pic with the T split, I have that port plugged with rubber cap. I also do not have a auto transmission either. In the other pic, my vacuum advance from the distributor is hooked up to that port. I think, correction I know the zip tie is a band aid. I don't think the choke is operating...

    Harbor Freight Tool/Product Review

I just bought a Bearing separator and puller kit. I looked at it on Tuesday night and it was $59.99. I went in today with my 20% coupon, since they have a big sale this weekend, and the price was adjusted down to $44.99. By the time they applied my coupon it was $35.99.:) I am a happy camper. I...

    Whining noise

Worn Timing chain rubbing the cover maybe? I think I read somewhere that there were two timing chain covers. One of them is much shallower than the other. It could be that someone put the shallow one in. I also read where someone replaced a timing chain and it rubbed the cover. I think it was in...

    Body Lean..and I don't mean skinny

I replaced the rear cab mounts with new rubber ones back in 1986. My truck is a 1979. Back then it had around 45000 miles if I remember correctly. I should have replaced them with the poly ones from Energy Suspension. I just put the poly ones on last month for the front and back cab mounts as...

    Small block 400

I ran a 406 in my lifted 1/2 ton for several years. I drag raced a lot of Ford pickups and 1 dodge. If you want a torque motor than the 406 is the one. I have no experience with the stroker motors. I stayed away from those due to longevity issues with them. It seemed that everyone that had one...

Well I learned something new today. Thanks Jerry! I just always put PS fluid in the PS. I didn't know that ATF could be substituted for PS fluid.

Correct Bed for a 79 K20 Round or Square

Thanks for that info on the fuel filler necks. I have heard that when buying a used bed, if it has the fuel filler neck also, you want to get it as well. Are bed bolt holes different widths from the early beds versus the 80's beds? I heard they were more narrow on the 80's bed. But I am not sure.
