Look at the rear crossmember and see of it has any holes through it or if it is solid. If it is solid then it is a seventies frame. As far as a auto to standard swap goes. Those are not hard to do. The 80's cabs had the humps that were welded in. The 70's humps were bolted in. You can cut...

what year truck did i buy?? experts needed!!

Yes the hump in the floor. Down along the bottom there should be bolts. My brake lines on my 79 run through the frame as well.

This is how it is on my 1979. I am not sure about the 1976 models.

[QUOTE=firebane;276017]The Dana44 would say its a 73-78ish running gear unless they swapped front axles which would be silly. Sounds like someone had a good body from a later model and used it on a early model frame and did a crappy job fitting everything else. @moonman cab mounts don't change...

Can you look at the transmission hump? Can you slide your hand along the side and feel for some bolts? The 80's transmission humps were smooth and not bolted in. The seventies were bolted in. You should be able to read a serial number on the dash by looking through the windshield on the drivers...

what year truck did i buy?? experts needed!!

I bet this is a 80's truck with a 70's dash installed. Along with a early 70's GM 4 spoke steering wheel.

It has the same gauge package as mine. Volt is in upper left gauge. It has the 100 mph speedo as well. The turn signal stalk looks a little funny. I have a factory cruise one on my 79 and it doesn't look like that. I think. Kind of hard to tell in the pic. The wiper switch should be in the cut...

Yeah I should have added that the steering wheel is not standard for the truck. Oops. Is your headlight dimmer switch on the floor in the upper left corner on the floor board?

what year truck did i buy?? experts needed!!

That is a pre 80's dash along with a pre 79 steering wheel. The dana is a 78 down model front end. Your glove box might have the sticker on inside lid that shows your options as well. If it does take a pic and post it. Did you check your title yet? You can go to the LMC website and look your...

^+1. My 1979 GMC is the same as well. OP-Does it have a 100 mph speedometer? What date does your title have on it?

Hah that's nothing. You can see brick from the old days under some of the old roads in our city!

Radio operators lend me your ear!

If you look at my thread in the under construction section, you might be able to see my CB. I mounted mine to the roof of the cab right in the middle between the visors. Back in the day I ran the cable through the vent window gasket out to an antenna mounted on the driver side mirror.

What have you done to your square lately??

I think there is some truth to what you are saying. I also think the internet is also to blame as well. I go to ebay and look at the trucks for sale and what they are asking pricewise. I will admit to seeing some good looking trucks there. I think the younger guys see this as well. They think...

What have you done to your square lately??

So anyways since my son is at 4-H camp this week, ole dad decided to pick up something new for the truck.:) I think he is going to like it. I also think the coolness factor of the old truck just went way up. I don't think it will make it go faster but it looks pretty cool - at least to me.:)...

What have you done to your square lately??

I hear you on that. I have over $20000 spent on my truck BEFORE I parked it. I went through 4 engines, 3 transmissions, 10 starters, lift kit, tires, ujoints etc. BUT it was FUN back in the day.:) I have them all in a manila envelope. Yeah I probably should have been a little easier on it back...

    Harbor Freight Tool/Product Review

Well I picked this up to use on the old truck. I also bought the soda blaster adapter and put it on as well. I don't know how good it works but I will find out and let you guys know. If anyone has one let me know the good and bad about this tool. Also the flyswatter is a must have for anyone...

What have you done to your square lately??

I can understand this concept completely. I parked mine in 1992 because I was working two jobs and I had to have reliable transportation. I parked the old girl out in the back yard and bought a brand new S10 to drive. The truck was a daily driver up to that day. It was only driven 3 times after...

Which Replacement Dash to get (not a cover/dash pad)

Brother I am sweating here in the AC reading those numbers. My truck has no AC so I don't think it would make it very long out there.:)
