    Best $6 I ever spent.

Thanks for all the comments! I actually did hit areas with superglue haha, thanks for the idea of going with something a bit stronger! tried to get it in the truck and the added thickness made it a little tough to get in, but I got it in. Truck is outside and the light is not good. Still have...

    Best $6 I ever spent.

Been fixing up the old girl. First door panels, now the dash. My dash was purple... horrendous purple... didn’t match anything. So this evening, I pulled it out of the truck. I noticed that someone wrapped the dash in fleece, then spray painted it purple. There was no foam on this dash, someone...

    Door panel repair

I know, right. Best case scenario, these last. Worst case, I buy new panels or get a used set. If I ever restored the truck (it is a rough truck, so probably won’t be doing that), I would buy a new set. Thanks! I thought the same, but as I was adding up my interior parts cost, I wanted to try...

    Timing a 350

Good idea, it runs pretty well now. I will do that the next time I tinker with it. Thank you!

    Door panel repair

My trucks door panels were TRASHED and honestly needed to be replaced. Before I spent hundreds of dollars on a beautiful new set... I thought I would try repairing them as a last ditch effort. I had fiberglass from other projects, so this is what $24 in duplicolor got me. Beginning: (Broken and...

    Timing a 350

Thanks for the info guys. Bought some new vacuum lines and spark plugs, but it got too cold out. I did buy a new carb gasket and wanted to address this first considering all 4 sides of the intake manifold; where the carburetor base meets the intake, has tarnish running down. As soon as I stuck...

    Timing a 350

Good stuff, thank you! It kinda sounds like someone put a cam in it. It is a GM remanufactured engine. The carb needs An adapter plate, I found one that I will end up getting for the Qauadrajet. I can raise the idle, I idled it down for timing purposes. It is slightly about 600 warm idle now...

    Timing a 350

My needle flutters from about 15-16, maybe even 15.5-16. Also, does engine rpm matter? I idled it down when I did the timing to about 600 rpm. I have no idea if you are supposed to do that or not, but that’s what I did.

    Timing a 350

The truck had a 350 put in, it has about 25,000 miles on the engine as we speak. Has not been used a lot since the motor and rear end were done in it. The 16 varies a little, I believe I got another vacuum leak. I have so many loose or old lines on an old Quadra jet. There is an Edelbrock...

    Timing a 350

Hey guys, been tinkering with the farm truck while she awaits other repairs and I realized her timing was too retarded. I advanced it and tried to get good vacuum, but could only get to about 16 on my vacuum gauge. She runs so much better, she had a bad bump in idle that has worked it’s way out...

    Flywheel noise

Do you guys have any suggestions for flexplates? I found out the motor is a 350. I’m not sure which is good, bad or indifferent. Any suggestions? I am seeing a lot of 168 tooth, is that what I need? Thanks!!!

    Flywheel noise

Now I’m tempted to do it on my own.... I like that idea. Until I figure out what to do, I will just let it sit. Thanks for the tips guys. I will update with what I end up doing.

    Flywheel noise

To be honest, I know some trans techs that I may just let have at it. This would take me the better part of a day at least, then if I screwed something up I would kick myself. I think I broke it worse about a week ago. The flexplate used to knock, but knock quieter than it does now. I had to...

    Flywheel noise

I have news fellas... got a little wet but I wanted to know. I was right. This could be rough!! Not what I wanted to fix, but it’s better than an engine!

    Flywheel noise

Good tip... this is a 2wd. I have a buddy with a 90- something Silverado that gushed tranny fluid out of the pump seal, that would be wise to replace. Any tricks for pulling they tranny without a lift?? I don’t think it’s the flapper either, which is why I’m here haha. She’s sitting outside...

    Flywheel noise

Would that flapper cause a LOUD knock???

    Flywheel noise

I can’t distinguish if it’s stuck open or closed, the rod is 100% stuck though. In idle, it clacks on and off. Fades in and fades out. You can put it in gear and sometimes it goes away. You don’t really hear it while driving. It’s usually just in idle. I am going to pull the bottom cover...

    Flywheel noise

Hey guys, I am new here. My 1979 GMC farm truck is clacking at idle pretty bad. I’ve had 2 mechanics look at the engine and the engine has no noise. They think that since my heat riser vacuum actuated rod to the bottom of the passenger manifold is siezed, that the flapper in there is most...
