    Cool early Father's Day gift

Okay y'all, just finished putting the new dizzy in. Literally took me twenty minutes. Maybe 21. lol This ol' girl has never run better. Made a couple of adjustments on the fly on the test drive. Damned cool!!! AND, I was able to add some timing when a load comes on at low RPM (A/C or...

    Cool early Father's Day gift

Awesome. I'm actually going to use the it like it appears that you have it set as well. I don't have an A/C idle solenoid, but after talking to Ted at PI, he said that a lot of folks do what you did, and add timing at 500 rpm to bring the idle back up. Pretty excited to start this project...

    Cool early Father's Day gift

Thanks for the insight! So, just so I understand it correctly, you have it set for 36° max RPM based, and max vacuum @ 8°. So at all in (2000 RPM), are you at 36° or 44°?

Agreed. I'm punching WAY outside my weight class. ;)

    Cool early Father's Day gift

Yeah, she's pretty amazing! Quick question. How much tinkering did you have to do with the timing map after it generated one? I don't mind tinkering at all, just curious. Thanks!

    Cool early Father's Day gift

So, I've been trying to figure the timing curve out on my 83 K20 SBC for a bit. I was in a bind a few years ago and needed a dizzy, and picked up an Amazon special out of desperation. And, while the truck runs, I couldn't effectively tune the curve. My wife, awesome as she is, comes out while...

    Spreadbore to squarebore adapter

So I recently upgraded my cam/heads/intake on my '83 K20. Nothing crazy, 906 heads, Summit 1103 cam, Summit 226062 intake. I've got a crappy Amazon special HEI dizzy that is coming all in WAY to early that I'll be changing soon, but that's a different post. lol Overall, she's running pretty...

    Modulator vacuum line

Is it possible to swap out the long metal modulator line going from the intake to the modulator with a regular vacuum line? The existing line is pretty gnarly looking (bent to he**), and is a pain in the rear to work around. I'm a bit worried about heat softening it up over that long of a...

Power steering leaking from weep hole

Think I know what's happening. Isn't there supposed to be a bolt in that hole? If so, can I just use a regular bolt?

Power steering leaking from weep hole

Thanks for the reply Strick. The picture was for an input seal that I'm pretty sure is leaking as well on the gearbox. The pump is definitely leaking, and if I'm lucky, all the oil on my steering gearbox is coming from the pump. Speaking of, there is definitely a hole of some sort on the back...

Power steering leaking from weep hole

So yesterday, after some top end work, I decided to go ahead and put my A/C system back together in and start vacuuming the system. Well, as I was installing the compressor, I look down, and the power steering pump is flowing out of a weep hole on the back of the pump. When I say flowing, I...

    Rocker arm discoloration

Howdy y'all! Recently put a few items into the top end on my (at the time) stock '83 350 with 67K miles. Parts used: Summit 1103 flat tappet cam GM performance lifters (3/4 backlash) PRW 1.5 roller tip rockers 906 vortec heads with screw in studs and beehives, new exhaust valves (intakes were...

    Quadrajet Air Fuel Ratio

Hi there y'all! I got called away for work, and am just now getting some down time. Quick update: I found a vacuum leak. It was the modulator on the tranny. Makes sense, as the tranny seemed to be holding gears longer than normal. Anyway, once I got that taken care of, I went out for...

    Quadrajet Air Fuel Ratio

So, I just recently replaced a few parts on my '83 K20. I put in: Summit 1103 Cam Summit Vortec Intake (still running my Qjet with an adapter plate, about 1" thick) Thoughts on this?? Reworked 906 heads She runs pretty well, but I feel like there's a bit left on the table. After break in, I...

    Operation "Save the driveway"

Did a small top end job on my 83K20 (cam, heads, intake), and she's running great! However, I've got some leakage on the TH400. Going to try to pinpoint it tonight. Leaks noticeably more if I let her sit for a bit. Going to wipe everything down, start her up and watch. I don't have any of...

What did you pay for a square

Bit of a long story, but I figured I'd share. I met my wife back in '11, and went to meet her folks. They had this '83 K20 that they used here and there on their property, but she really only got run once a year when they used it for dump runs. The rest of the time, she was open barn. Her...

    83 K20 GEAR RATIO

G'mornin y'all! So, after some calculatin' this morning, I'm pretty sure I have 4.56 gears in her. Going out to confirm later this morning, but it's just too danged cold right now. I'm 99% sure the original owner (late father in law), never had anything modified on the truck, but it was used...

    Order of upgrades

Roger that y'all. Looks like I'll be going all in at once! lol Another quick question for y'all. I made a post the other day asking about ported or manifold vac for the dizzy. I've always run it ported from the qjet (driver side, low), but noticed the other day that even at 600 rpm, I'm...
