What have you done to your square lately??

I got my trusty and, VERY rusty plow truck ready and checked over for winter. Spent most of the time vacuuming mouse crap and nests. They filled the evaporator housing from both sides friggin stinks! It’s an ‘86 with an edelbrock carb, 700r4 and an 8’ fisher plow. All I’ve ever had are jimmys or...

    Show your daily driver

thank you. I polished them when I put them back in this spring after I took the winter wheels and tires off. It’s amazing that they’re 33 years old, have never had a crimp in wheel weight on the outside to scar them up and no curb rash either. They polished up nice and very easy for sure. I have...

What have you done to your square lately??

do you have true dual exhaust with no crossover? What I’m getting at is that tail pipe ONLY has that bank of cylinders? So you know for sure that it’s a backfire from the passenger bank of cylinders. If so that means it’s a single cylinder issue. Sure you’ve got the right firing order on your...

    Frame flex near steering gearbox???

I too have had a cracked 2wd frame at the box. But it was from a loose rivet on the front crossmember that allowed the frame to flex. Over time it cracked the frame. Like everyone else said, remove rivets and put bolts in there. Ben

    extra gauges

That tach is awesome and probably worth some money. I’m a big believer of gauges. I have my own big rig and it’s dash looks like an airplane. I know the temp and pressure of every liquid in that truck plus exhaust temp, intake restriction and boost pressure. I can tell you that on a cool 40-50...

Suburban third row shoulder belt mounting

Hey guys. Can any of you with an 89-91 suburban with third row seat post pictures of how the seatbelts mount to the truck. Especially the retractor part. I’m looking to retrofit my 87 non shoulder belt truck and would like to see how they’re mounted. Also where the top tether mounts as well. I’m...

    Corner/Marker Light Behavior

It’s hard to tell but it looks like your front marker lights aren’t on. The ones under your headlights. If they aren’t, that’s why your side marker lights are on either. You’ve more than likely got a wiring issue from bulkhead connector out to the front marker lights. With no blinkers in and...

    1991 suburban 350 keep?

I’d keep the tbi personally. From someone who has all styles of square bodies. The suburban is last one I feel the need to do burnouts with. They’re so big and bulky that I don’t even try to corner carve or throw it around at all. Don’t get me wrong, it needs to get out of its own way and merge...

    Surface rust (and more) questions

I’ll second the failed Por-15 Scenario. I never did the prep past degrease and de-scale and it didn’t last. I wouldn’t use por because there are other less priced things to use that convert rust just as well. Ben

    1973 Blazer - Tach Conversion

Just run a separate wire directly to the fuel gauge that you need. Use the circuit board for two of the pins and your own separate wire for the third. I did this when I put a second temp sensor where the clock could go for a transmission temp gauge. If you’re good enough to do rest of this...

87 TBI oil pressure sender wire

It’s green just like the coolant temp sensor wire. I had to mark mine to keep from mixing them up on the engine swap on my 87 I did last month.

    Fender Antenna

Here’s two of my parts trucks. Both blazers, both loaded Silverado’s. First is an 88 and second is 89. Same fender mount. I also have an 85 custom delux blazer with windshield antenna. Go figure.

Third row shoulder belts for suburban

I knew about the shoulder mount for the middle row because I had an ‘84 that had the shoulder mount bolt hole but just lap belts. I’m hoping the third row is the same. I’ve got kids getting older and need shoulder belts for booster seats. so, anyone have a set? ben

Best headlights to use, NOT LED

Thanks for the ideas guys. I just can’t stand the look of the led spot/flood lights on an older vehicle. I do have a set of super cheap yellow fog lights that take the H3 bulbs and they work well. Just switched them to led bulbs because the light still looks the same visually, but am unimpressed...

Lets give the 6.2 diesel some love

I also said I like my 6.2 in my square body and love the mileage it gets. I was saying anyone who thinks they are better than a Cummins is mental. Don’t get triggered, we’re on the same team but I felt the need to state some facts from an owner of both diesels. Ben
