The very top portion of the cap is removable on mine, about an inch below the simulated screws. Yours aren't removable?

That zip tied switch is also a brake light switch. It would be used in place of a brake light switch with only 2 terminals. Brake lights on one set of terminals, and cruise control on the other set. Someone jury rigged it in that bracket, who knows for what

Picture 143213, the switch on the left should be for your brake lights, the zip tied in switch on the right should be the vacuum release. Maybe the switch on the left is bad? Was it plugged into any of the harness connectors?

When you go to install the bulkhead connector, make sure all the terminals are fully seated on the fuse block side. When I first did mine, the terminals for the starter switch weren't all the way snapped in, and I couldn't start the truck. Also, make sure the connector is very tight. I had to...

You got the turn signal switch figured out. Great job with the pictures. The brake light switch that is zip tied to that bracket is where the cruise control vacuum release should go. I would recommend you remove that switch and put it back in the original hole on the other side. I couldn't tell...

Check the VIN number on the frame. That should tell you what the original truck was. Sounds like someone changed the cab.

I don't need the harness, but someone will. Also, the single button cruise turn signal is a good one to keep, if it works. I was looking for that switch last year, but ended up buying a universal switch from Classic Industries. This is the part that hose should have connected to. See anything...

That cruise harness looks like it's in great shape. Only see the plastic connector for the transducer is missing. You should hang on to that harness, it's probably worth some cash. That last picture helped me some, do you have any showing where that vacuum hose plugged into under the dash?

I'm trying to install the cruise back into my truck and can't figure out where the vacuum release mounts to the brake assembly. Hoping you will have a picture of that area when you take the harness out from under the dash. Info on the 1970's cruise is hard to find

That's the best thing to do. Are you going to keep the cruise control?

Definitely keep your turn signal and marker light sockets. Painless doesn't have those in the kit. I also reused my original headlight connector. The painless connector leaves part of the headlight terminals exposed. You will also need your entire tail light harness. Hopefully it's not hacked up...

Make sure to keep ALL of your old wire harness. You will find Painless leaves out several harness connectors that are not being reproduced. You will also need any harness that has been plugged into the OEM fuse block. Hopefully they are all in good shape

Leaf spring bushing destroyed. What would cause this?

I was told not to lube bushings with petroleum grease, but that was with rubber bushings. The petroleum grease softens rubber causing them to split and turn to mush, but I didn't know if it would do that to poly.

    Power Steering pump

Power steering pumps are not hard to rebuild. If you can take the pump off the engine, you can rebuild it yourself. The only special tool needed is the puller for the pulley. Autozone has this puller in their tool rental. Rebuild kit is only about $10. Take pictures as you take it apart, one...

Sac religious bench swap.. Hear me out.

There are some pretty good videos on YouTube on how to repair seat cushions. I cheated a bit and used part of the cushion from another bench seat to repair mine. The foam cuts easy with a razor knife. Then use 3M spray glue to fit it back together. Reupholstery kits are very easy to install on...

    Sliding rear window gasket?

I recently rebuilt my factory slider. The two windows I have both came as factory A28 option for 78 and 79 and both are aluminum frame. The felt channel and latch are available on Amazon. The hardest part for me to find was the bulb seal. I found seal at DK hardware, but it was just a tiny bit...

82 K10 Heater Doors and Vacuum Lines

The hose you're holding goes to a port on the inside of that vacuum solenoid just below your hand. You can see the other end of that hose is sticking out of the heater box just to the left of the solenoid.

Power Windows/Locks Harness. Does anyone make the cab harness?

Good luck on the power window harness. I searched e-bay for a couple years and couldn't find anyone reproducing it. Finally just cut off the connectors I had and ran new wire straight to the switches and relays. I can help you with the connector, possibly. Does the 85 have the same round rubber...

    manual clutch linkage issues

You should have 2 springs on your clutch z-bar. One short spring from the z-bar to the clutch fork, and one fairly long spring from an L-bracket mounted on the clutch fork back to the frame (usually a hole at the engine mount). I have headers and I had to get creative to attach the return...
