    Dino's GM truck show Nov. 15 - 16

Normally I go on Fridays as it's only trucks and more of the diehard crowd, but once again my job gets in the way of fun so now I plan to go on Saturday and actually stay for all the drawings. The following weekend is the Scottsdale Goodguy's which I plan to attend as well. And nope, none of my...

NEW Brothers Dash Bezels - CHEAP

The seller is Super Shops which was a large performance chain in the 80/90's. I think they owned Mallory Ignition. Probably the biggest BFGoodrich dealer at that time. Home of the $29.99 Bfgoodrich radial. Based on their inventory and location of Bowling Green,I suspect that they are owned or...

Thoughts on how to recover from a slightly cross threaded spark plug threads in head?

All good advice here. One additional thing I do is put the engine on exhaust stroke and put an open airline in the exhaust pipe so any trash is blown out.

    Column Gear Shift Detent

Both of my trucks have 700r4's and no detent was changed and they work fine. I just swapped the indicators. I had one column rebuilt and 99% sure they said they were the same detents. Only power glides require a different detent IIRC.

    Column Gear Shift Detent

Good info. I think I always set in D and tighten it but really can't recall. I'll do it in N going forward

    What year tailgate is this??

If I recall, there is 4 or 5 different variations of the tailgate hinge/ latches from 73-87(91). I collected about 10 tailgates a few years back for a man cave/ bench product I was going to do and was surprised to see all the variations in that functional area plus the different GMC/ Chevrolet...

Daughters ‘87 needs to ride smooth.

I know I already mentioned it but if you don't know about these, definitely worth your time to research. Makes your truck ride super smooth empty or loaded. They used to be made by BFGoodrich and I think Goodyear at one point for Buses and HD trucks. Everyone I know that has installed these all...

Daughters ‘87 needs to ride smooth.

Assuming the suspension is in good shape and doesn't require repairs... I'd start by buying some Sulastic or velvet ride shackles. They will smooth out the ride immensely when running empty. One hour install.

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

If it were me, i think I would go to the local auto parts store, order a new set of drums and see what shows up. If the new drums clear, great. If not, I'd stop there and get different wheels as it's not worth the time, money, effort to modify a part that really shouldn't have to be modified and...

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

Can't help with the rim issue but would definitely try rotating the tire to see if that helps reduce the weights or switch to airsoft beads.

Anyone used the Glowshift gauge setup

I considered them as they have a lot of options and offer a matching pillar set up. One thing I didn't like was that every gauge had their logo. I don't remember why I ended up not choosing them but I ended up going with factory gauges, adding a repro factory tach, and then ordering faces to...

    What are these holes for?

I don't think I've ever seen a Panasonic Welder. Pretty cool! Hard to get consumables?

    What are these holes for?

Personally, id leave the holes alone. They have clean, painted edges and shouldn't cause an issue. If you put a plug, bolt, etc. you created a place to trap dirt and water and will eventually rust.

    Finally, a squarebody forum!

Welcome! You should be able to find the studs at any auto parts store from Dorman. Make sure you get w/p studs and not Carb. I see a lot of people using carb studs and they aren't quite long enough to get full engagement of the thread.

    The Best Carburetor?

On race vehicle, I will always choose Holley. On street vehicle, I'd always choose quadrajet. However, that is somewhat dependent on whether you have a true competent Quadrajet shop/ builder near you or willing to ship off to. Not a carb shop that "also" does quads.

Seat Rebuild - To reuse or not reuse padding. And fixed to folding?

Lastly, if you buy the upholstery covers from Raybuck, it's priced well and they have a large assortment of materials, patterns, and colors to choose from at no extra cost and only takes an extra week.

Seat Rebuild - To reuse or not reuse padding. And fixed to folding?

Also, I think I might have an extra folding seat frame. San Diego isn't that far. Are you coming to Phoenix for Dino's?

Seat Rebuild - To reuse or not reuse padding. And fixed to folding?

I always do new padding. Figure a 30-50 yo truck has been farted on 10-15k times and probably a good handful of sharts. I also add seat heaters everytime I reupholster a seat. $100 on Amazon and easy to wire/ install

    2 post shop lift

Sorry to hijack the thread on lifts... We had a great auto shop class which was really surprising since it was considered an affluent area and most kids had brand new cars. Tom Nelson, who was a couple grades ahead of me, was in my class and started Nelson Racing Engines pretty much right out...

    2 post shop lift

Yes, this is what we had. I totally forgot it had 2 levers and kids were always screwing it up!!!

    2 post shop lift

This was different. Instead of being parallel, it was inline. One for rear axle and one for front. I've never seen another like it. Probably installed in the early 70's.

    2 post shop lift

That's the plan for now except with the Max Jax. It only lifts 48". One of my big concerns is having a clear floor if I get a 2 post. My buddy has a 2 post with the cables that are on the floor and its always in the way. I had to use it to pull the motor on my HHR SS and the motor has to come...
