Intro to forum and a hub story

What kind of Jackwaggon would try to seal a moving part to a stationary one with silicon? This is why I do as much of my own mechanical work myself. Welcome to the site.

Valuable car insurance information for squarebodys

My Blazer is insured through Hagerty. $22,000 value for $380/year. Limited to 3000 mi/year, must be stored inside and can't be my primary transportation.

What did you pay for a square

$3000 back in 2007. It may be worth a little more now.

    Np203 part time conversion?

My NP203 which had a conversion kit in it long ago installed had a catastrophic failure last spring. I replaced it with a un-converted used NP203. I'm happy with the un-converted so far. I haven't noticed much difference in fuel mileage. If you convert yours, you will need lock-out hubs on...

    2015 Camaro V6 2LS

This is the 2010 SS M6 that I bought new. It now has 254,000 miles. My current Winter project is replacing & upgrading the entire suspension. I've had a few issues over the years, but over-all it's been a great car.

What is an goodwrench targetmaster 350?

Don't use Fast Orange to clean spark plug wires. It works great until the next rainy day when arcing causes massive missing and back-firing.

    Oil leak

Best formula that I've found for SBC valve cover gaskets. - Use Fel-Pro cork Gaskets - Put a light coat of Vaseline on both sides of the gasket - Don't over-torque - Re-torque after first heat cycle

    Hubs

The other down-side is you'll get a little worse fuel mileage. That's part of the reason my '97 Grand Cherokee gets lousy fuel mileage. It was built with no locking Hubs so the front axle and drive shaft is always turning even in 2WD.

    How to achieve tighter steering?

I have the Frame support and Crossover Steering with 4" lift and 33s. the ORD Crossover Steering fixed my looseness issues. Might have been going to the 2WD Steering Box which is required for Crossover Steering. I considered using the Jeep XJ Steeering Shaft as well. But once the Crossover...

    Burnouts with a NP203 full time 4wd?

Nope. Open front and rear. I went through both differentials the Summer after I bought it. Good thing too, the shimming in the front was way off.

    Burnouts with a NP203 full time 4wd?

Only at parking lot speeds. At anything faster it feels fine. Not so much through the steering wheel, just feels like it binds a bit.

    Burnouts with a NP203 full time 4wd?

Yes, I still have the locking hubs. So to check that, I turned them to the unlock position and put it in gear. The Blazer wouldn't move as expected. I don't have the original shifter. I had J&B build me a custom twin-stick cable shifter. It has very positive shift positions. Not yet...

    Burnouts with a NP203 full time 4wd?

I am new to the forum and don't have privileges to post a new thread, so I'm asking my questions a reply to this thread. I've owned my '74 K5 since 2007. It had an NP203 with the conversion kit when I bought it. The transfer case took a dump earlier this year. I replaced it with a used...
