'75 - '80 Tailgate Hinges
Why is it so blasted hard to find 75 - 80 tailgate hinges? I can find the truck side but not the gate side. I have a '78 truck and an '81+ tailgate and the hinges are incompatible. Are the hole patterns interchangeable? It seems like they shape is similar even into the 2000's. I'd be find...- tpripps

To Gasket, or not to Gasket?
I'm fixin' to pull the rocker covers on my 454 and I wanted to make sure that I had gaskets lined up for putting it back together. But, when I looked in the service manual, it just shows to use RTV. *UPDATE* I worked on it all day last monday. Gained ZERO ground. I got all of the access covers off the drum backer to see if I could get at the adjuster wheel. With the lighting I had I couldn't even see the wheel, let alone adjust it. I think I may try what somebody mentioned earlier and put... -

Yes, the drum appears to be seized on the pads, or the bearings are seized altogether. I got the other side to turn but it feels pretty crusty. I'm just assuming the pads are seized to the drum. Eventually I'll want to pull the drum off but for now, I just want the truck to be mobile. i'll try... -

Thanks for the feedback but I had a 2 x 12 under the jack while jacking, now it's just sitting there. There are also 2 jack stands in concrete pads farther back out of the picture. This aint my first rodeo ;-) -

I've found that not only is the passenger side leaf broken as I had originally thought, but now I've discovered that the driver's side is too. *Following* I'm having a similar issue. I have a "newer" tailgate and older hinges so the cup and boss don't fit together. There are plenty of solutions online but they all look pretty cheap. I'm eager to see what you come up with. Like you, i'm about to fab my own.- tpripps
