700R4 that only mildly backs up at 1200 rpm

TCI just tells me I have too much fluid, the trans only take 6qts. I emptied the trans and put back in exactly 6 qts and the same behavior.

700R4 that only mildly backs up at 1200 rpm

Ok I have a 1984 chevy K10 w/350 HO and a TCI Maximizer 700r4. The issue I have is that this is a new transmission and it goes forward like a freight train but backing up is a problem. When I shift into drive with my foot off the brake the truck moves. When I shift the truck in reverse however...

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

I haven’t done the shroud yet but the fan going the proper direction sure made a difference!

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

Well put on the new fan and now she runs between 183-199. So the reverse rotation fan was the fix!

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

No adapter plate and it’s a turn key motor so most everything was pre installed.

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

I hear ya, pondering how to do that since it was a diesel truck and the gas radiator is t the same size and I had to custom fab a bracket.

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

Well uninstalled the fan and fan clutch and the pulley and confirmed I do have a reverse rotation water pump GM part number 19168600. Now I just need to wait for the fan the pressure test is going well no issues there.

Apparently you can mix them when you install the fan on a fan clutch…..

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

Carburator, I know some folks do but I can't imagine going to EFI. Yes, the timing is at 8 degrees BTDC. No shroud and apparently the wrong fan so I ordered the right fan last night.

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

When I flipped my fan this is what mine did. I since ordered a reverse rotation fan.

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

Well part of the problem has been identified I bought a standard rotation fan and installed it on a serpentine system. ‍ Now I just need to make sure I have the proper water pump as well.

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

Yes it came with a 180 thermostat. However this may be the key I bought a stock fan for this year of truck…. I may not be moving enough air in the right direction. - Did the engine include a fan? Original engine would have been standard rotation, but with serpentine the fan turns the opposite...

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

I have a dakota digital gauge and a Bosch manual gauge installed opposite each other in the thermostat riser so I know I have a good reading they are within a degree of each other. Yes right now I have the thermostat out so it’s free flowing (wanted to eliminate the thermostat from the...

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

Yes it shipped with a complete serpentine system and the motor is running awesome except for the heat issue. As for the correct direction I believe so.

Chevy 350 HO connect and cruise running hot

I have a chevy 350 HO connect and cruise that I bought from Jeg’s that is running hot. Has a 180 degree thermostat but is running at 212 or above even after the thermostat opens or without it. Thinking I may have received a weak water pump with the motor. I can’t think what else might be causing...

I'll have to go back out and take another look but the orientation appeared to be different.

    6.2 L Diesel

to do this it looks like I would have to fabricate a new bracket due to the shape of the pump. What do you think of the idea above about combining the inputs?

    6.2 L Diesel

Great question here is the engine I'm installing.

    6.2 L Diesel

Yes but moving from the Diesel engine to the new gas engine with a serpentine belt I have not been able to find a hydromatic compatible power steering pump for a reasonable price. If you can direct me otherwise I'm happy to see any suggestions.

    6.2 L Diesel

Folks, I could use some help I'm swapping my 6.2 L diesel motor with approx 48k miles over to a new gas motor. I just pulled the motor yesterday and I have it ready to sell. The only hang-up is that the ear is broken of the block to mount the starter. I know from past conversations here it...
