    New wiring harness difficulty

If you’re going to attempt it spend the extra money and get a painless harness. It comes with a book that takes you through it step by step. But before you begin read the book cover to cover.

Rough and shaking 350 after changing spark plugs

Also worth check that during your tune up you didn’t loosen the distributor and it moved on you after you check the plugs wires and vacuum fittings as everyone correctly called out first.

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

Before you do anything significant, drive it around until it dies and then reach back and open the gas cap. If you hear a loud woosh you may have a bad gas cap.

So if I read this right I have a 208c transfer case with a 261 gear ratio. Correct?

It looks like it may be a 208. Is there anything else I need to know that you can tell by the photo?

    1995 c1500 4speed trans 4th gear

Yes second gear works well. Pretty old truck and transmission so I wouldn’t rule out the converter lockup issues.

    1995 c1500 4speed trans 4th gear

Well this may be a bit outside the forum year rules but I figured y’all might be able to help. My son has a 1995 chevy c1500 with a 4 speed trans 4L60 I believe. His transmission drives great 1-3 rd gear. When it shift to fourth it only momentarily shifts in to 4th gear and then immediately back...

    6.2 to 350 swap

The tanks weren’t terribly expensive and the mechanics I spoke with said the lines would clean out pretty quickly but the tanks would take a while to clean out and I decided it was easier to change them. Plus the rock guards were full of mud, rocks and rust.

    Wiper/Washer Motor 1984 K10

I’ve run into a problem where I replaced my wiper motor and after three Cardone motors I came here and learned to get a WAI. I installed it and the wiper function works great. However I can not get the washer motor to push fluid to save my life. I did suck on the hose and fluid does flow through...

    6.2 to 350 swap

Yep I had this happen to my 84 when I installed the new tanks I didn’t install the vents I left them plugged and after running about 10 minutes it would starve out and shut off. When I opened the gas cap you would hear a huge vacuum.

    6.2 to 350 swap

I did it recently, I changed fuel tanks, senders, motor and fuel pump obviously. The biggest thing I didn’t change that I should have was the fuel lines. I put in an inline filter and clogged three of them before I got it on the road. I also didn’t change my fuel tank change component inside the...

What are these things? Overhead heat/air system!

The second set of wires in your photo string of 4 photos is your electric door harness and relay. Do not throw them away unless you are upgrading.

    Vintage air controls

Ok well then I need to figure out why mine isn’t lit then. Do you know if there is a specific wire or fuse that I should check?

    Vintage air controls

So I have a Vintage Air surefit kit in my 1984 K10 with their electronic controls. It works great and when I turn the A/C on the little blue led lights up. Do the controls have a black light so you can see them at night in a dark cab or do you just turn on the dome light to make adjustments?

Transfer Case Info for OEM Squarebodies

I hate to be the guy to ask the dumb question but is there a number on the case anywhere that will tell you which one I have? My truck is an 84 1/2 ton originally a diesel 6.2 L with a 700R4 trans.

700R4 that only mildly backs up at 1200 rpm

They said they suspected reverse clutch out of tolerance.

700R4 that only mildly backs up at 1200 rpm

Well wanted to post an update. TCI replaced the transmission and I installed the new one and it works great. Cost me a little bit of $ to jump through the hoops but at the end of the day it all worked out.

Well you weren’t wrong, the flush didn’t work now I’m talking to the warranty manager.

700R4 that only mildly backs up at 1200 rpm

Well it’s going to cost me $200 to get the transmission and torque converter flushed so I hope your wrong and this works. ;)
  24. Gilmore

700R4 that only mildly backs up at 1200 rpm

Yeah I did too but that is full synthetic and apparently is too thin once the trans is warm to allow the reverse clutch to engage.
  25. Gilmore

700R4 that only mildly backs up at 1200 rpm

Apparently I need to flush the trans and torque converter because you can’t use full synthetic fluid in a TH350, 400 or 700R4 it needs to be petroleum based Dex3.
