Knock sensor on a carb'd TBI engine
So I'm up underneath my truck just lookin' around, and I come across the knock sensor, the insulation on the wire frayed off, and was touching up against the rear cap of the starter. I moved it away. Question is, being that its carb'd with no computer, do I really need it? And if I do, what's...- VAL

Lifted leaf springs?
If you have a total of 6", and your rear has 2" blocks, you have 4"shackle flip(that's if your truck sits level as is). You would need 2" spring lift to do away with the blocks.- VAL

R12 TO R134 Conversion
All my a/c components have at some point been replaced except for the evaporator. Would it be beneficial to put a new one in? And how do you jump the low pressure switch? -

What is this that I need?
I believe that's the actuator that moves the flap to direct air to upper dash when the defroster is turned on. Did the actuator break off the housing? -

RETRO-Mod: Jeep intermediate steering shaft
Here's what I did to mine today. I drilled two 5/16" holes about 2" apart, Welded some grade 8 nuts on it, put in the bolts(using them as a set screw), tightened the just enough to eliminate the play, maybe an inch pound. I'm pretty certain it will collapse if it needs to, they are just there...- VAL

Valve covers & engine covered in oil
Here's some pics of the grommets. The one on the left is what I had on, the one one the right is the proper one. It sealed the hole completely & the pvc valve was tighter than a mouse's ear. You can see how much it expanded, not a lot, but enough to notice it. -

When I pulled out the grommet, I put the pvc valve in to see how much it had expanded. There was 1/8" gap when I pressed the valve against one side of the grommet. Or maybe, just maybe, I was the dumb ass who put in the wrong size grommet on. But if I remember correctly, they were nice and... -

Come to find out that the new rubber grommets I put on, somehow expanded and hardened with the heat of the engine. I went to pull out my pvc valve, and it slipped right out of the grommet with minimal effort. I put it back in and I could actually move it back an forth. After further inspection...
