    Throwing Parts at the Wall

Thanks everyone for these suggestions they have been very helpful and insightful. I've been consuming all the videos I can on cleaning and resealing the injectors, cleaning and resetting the IAC etc. Today I'm doing something I overlooked initially which is changing out what looks to be the...

    '90 R2500 U-Joints

I don't think it's supposed to do that.

3 of 4 missing the needle bearings. She was a clunker. Off to the parts store.

    Transmission Upgrade?

Truly want better mileage in a 3500? Find a donor for a Duramax/Allison swap. Might as well snag the rear end out of it too. https://dmaxswap.com/

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

Sorry to have taken your post the wrong way. As you can tell by my reply, I'm a bit of a reactionary. Note to self: Do NOT take Cousin Gary's lunch! (My point, exactly.)

    Rust Options

No. Conventional Por15 is a coating that prevents future rust. They also make a converter they call "Rust Dissolve" which is the equivalent of what you already used. The Por 15 Rust Preventative would not be redundant.

    Yay or nay (poll)

If you like em I'd offer 1/2 that and let it ride. I think the truck looks proper the way it is, so I'm voting for the Rally wheels.

    '90 R2500 U-Joints

Thought I might see if anyone can save me the research time on U-Joints and maybe a carrier pn# for the 'Burb. High quality parts only, please! As the title states vehicle is a 1990. Trans is a TH400, rear axle is the stock 14 bolt 8 lug semi floater. Driveshaft service, ujoint, carrier...

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

Could be. Internet posts are not replete with inflection. I definitely took it as "that gun don't make you tough". And with that I actually agree. I certainly am not the guy in Cousin Gary's story, waving my gun around anywhere. This thread and the ideas in it are visible to a lot of different...

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

God Bless America. Kind of surprised to get any pushback or anecdotal sarcasm about protecting my property with the 2nd amendment on a square body forum. Most people who still drive 35-60 year old Chevy trucks are the last people I'd suggest messing with. A lot of us don't play. Maybe the...

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

Sure did. My share many times over. Haven't had a drop in years. Doesn't change how I react to threats to me or property. It's a big world and not everyone is like you. Y'all are acting like babies over a picture of a gun in a thread about theft. Climb down from your horses, untwist your panties...

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

Cool. Here's a couple more stories. I had a marine squad leader and 2 of his friends gang up on me one night and the marine had a knife. I knocked his buddies both out cold and had his knife at his throat all in about 8 seconds. An Airborne Army Ranger pulled a huge knife on my cousin and...

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

Mine is parked right next to bedroom window when it's not in storage. I'm a very light sleeper. I don't take it shopping. I have a shltbox for errands like that. I don't go to bars or eat out. I'm rarely if ever out of direct line of sight of my Suburban when away from my home. If they wanna...

    Truck pulls to the right.

Will be very difficult to diagnose this digitally so as the suggestions come you'll have to inspect and try different things. I'll start it off by saying don't completely rule out the rear brakes malfunctioning. Even though they are separated in the master, the system all works together because...

    Engine sags

Easy way to check is to go for a ride with the gas cap removed on whichever tank you're using.

Bought an '87 long bed on Bring a Trailer a few days ago

Couldn't come close to building one that nice for the price and it wouldn't be original. Helluva buy. 20k or not, with the manual I would need new rear tires in a week or so. Because I'm stupid.

I burnt it up didn't I? Take a look HEI got wet.

Again the Street Fire is a rebranded Chinese $50 dizzy. Why spend $40 to maybe fix it when you can spend $50 and definitely fix it? Guess it just doesn't make sense to me

I burnt it up didn't I? Take a look HEI got wet.

Just an FYI those Street Fire distributors are absolutely no better than the $50 ones you can get on eBay. It's literally the same exact thing without the stickers. Just buy another one and get over it.

Easton Is Graduating Thank You all for your help GMSB!!

What a great thread. Looks like I found the right forum to join. He probably learned as much building that truck as he did in high school. As far as skills needed for life, probably more. Congratulations, Graduate!

    1987 Suburban v1500 - what separates the v1500 and v2500?

As far as the 87-91 Suburbans go there's quite a bit of difference. Usually a 1500 will have a 4 speed 700R4. Not that a 700R4 is weak, but they did come in S10s and are considered medium duty at best. The 2500 will usually have a 3 speed TH400 which is a heavy duty transmission. The 1500 will...

    Throwing Parts at the Wall

I'm a whole 24 hours into owning my latest square and just cannot fight the urge to "improve" what I am able to. I've had a couple OBS TBI's but don't have much experience tuning or maintaining the systems so I want to ask those with more experience. My 90 Suburban with127k mi runs pretty...
