    Stumped on oil leak

It was a reasonable temperature outside after the sun went down so I started prep for doing the timeing cover gaskets. Took me a little less than 2 hours. I’ll have to rent a harmonic balancer puller tomorrow.

What have you done to your square lately??

Added some stickers (actually a thin aluminum plate) to the valve covers. Some days it’s nice to have the little victories when battling the oil leaks. :Big Laugh:

    Stumped on oil leak

I had just enough time for another test drive berofe the rain hit today and I think this has got to be coming from the timing cover. Again I probibly only went about a mile or so. So although its not much oil I'd rather not have to deal with this all the time. Oil pan has a Felpro one piece...

A quick run from the other day. Was very surprised I got both emblems off intact. Oh I also got cab light covers and gaskets but forgot to get a picture of them

    Stumped on oil leak

Ah I see, so it should be routed so that the PCV breather vents back into the carb intake to burn off/use up that oil vapor. I'll see what I can do to simulate that. But that's more of a long-term issue. For now, it's at least working.

    Stumped on oil leak

Hang on there. If I had money for that I'd have my beast on the road! :Big Laugh: I didn't get much done today, it was about 98 outside. I did manage to get it onto the driveway and pressure wash the engine bay/framerails/inner fenders I was careful, so I didn't get anything electronic wet...

    Stumped on oil leak

I see the fuel pressure regulator there. But how does that affect the PCV valve/vent?

    Stumped on oil leak

Yep PCV vent was the issue. I swapped out the Valve covers when I put the engine back in and I did not realize that the old ones had a breather-style oil cap. So when I put the new ones on I plugged up the driver's side valve cover. I talked to my brother who used to be a mechanic about it over...

    Stumped on oil leak

Sorry, all. Yes, its the truck in my signature. A 1985 Chevy K30 with a 454 and TH400. The complete history on it is that it was a factory 6.2 Diesel, but before I got the truck someone swapped in a 454 (from a 73 truck, block casting #3999289 casting date A1273), and then heads on it appear to...

    Stumped on oil leak

I do not. Not sure I understand what it is either. I also thought of this. I may try taking the dipstick out and slipping some rubber hose over the end by the oil pan and then putting two hose clamps on it one on the pan and one on the tube.

    Stumped on oil leak

I'm feeling really stupid. I cannot figure out this oil leak. I just did an oil change yesterday and put the UV dye in took it for a short test drive today < 1Mile and I had oil smoke particularly under acceleration from oil on the headers. The UV dye seems to indicate that I've got oil...

    Mystery plug and wires

Orang and white should be accessory lights. Well the whole accessory circuit is orange and white. It could be glove box light, dome light, cargo lamp, footwell lamp, door buzzer.

What have you done to your square lately??

I finally got my engine put back into my truck. Trans went out, I pulled it back in February and had to save up for a few months set it off to monster transmissions back July. Got it back on the 16th this month. Was doing some small stuff to the engine as well. But it’s back in the truck now!

Factory rear sway bar end links mounting on K series

I try that. Still think it’ll look better faceing forward though. No reason I can’t drill through that spring stop it’s just a stop/rest for the overload springs right?

Factory rear sway bar end links mounting on K series

Hey everyone I looked at the other threads on this and could not find an answer. I got a factory rear sway bar off an 89 V3500 (I think it was a V...) and I'm just now getting around to mounting it. I got new U-bolts and got the plates that mount under the axle mounted. I am temporarily reusing...

It a military one, I just put some paint on it. No adaptation needed, just a few longer bolts.

Got some vintage fog lamps the other day. They cleaned up real nice. Not sure on where to mount them yet though.

    1991 Burb Overhead Console Lights

Oh I forgot there will also be a ground wire you’ll have to disconnect, it’s connected to the three wire connector but held on with a Phillips screw to the black metal frame.

    1991 Burb Overhead Console Lights

Should be 4 black 10mm bolts that hold the plastic shell onto the metal frame, you should see them inside the sunglasses holder areas. Take those bolts off and then while supporting the console slide it forward, it should drop down and be free from the roof, disconnect the wiring harness, a...

Got a rear sway bar off an 89 Chevy V3500 dualy. Got the vin and RPO codes, not sure if it’s factory or not. Should fit on my 85 just fine though. I’ll need to find longer u-bolts and end links though.

Overhead console crew cab install, how I did it.

Nope. I have a crew cab pickup, console is out of a 89-91 Suburban.

Overhead console crew cab install, how I did it.

Oh those expanding nut things? I don’t own any or the tool to put them in if it’s what I’m thinking of. Could do that though.

Overhead console crew cab install, how I did it.

There is a lot of talk about putting the 89-91 Suburban overhead console into a crew cab, and there are a few pictures out there of it done but no guides or pictures of how to do it. At least none that I could find. So this is a guide of how I went about doing it. I’m not saying that this is the...
