    RETRO-Mod: Jeep intermediate steering shaft

Got the bottom bolt in today, picked up a normal grade 8 M10x1.5x30 flange head bolt form the hardware store see pictures attached. Haven’t taken it for a drive yet but I can say I like not having to modify the shaft at all to get it in there and the dampener is the same style as the original...

Help with redoing my Front Grille 82 C10 and building a parts list.

I’d like to hear about the LED Headlights as well. I’ve got a set of Grote LED lights on my wish list but they are quite pricey.

    RETRO-Mod: Jeep intermediate steering shaft

Per the other thread by dd1990, I got Dorman part # 425-177 for $130 off Amazon. I pulled out the Jeep shaft and put the C3500 shaft in. It's a perfect fit. I'll post pictures of it in the truck tomorrow. For today I have comparison photos of the original shaft, the Jeep shaft, and the...

What have you done to your square lately??

It’s a bit like putting lipstick on a pig but I got one side done.

    Vintage air vs. stock dilemma???

Personally I’ve looked into both options and I’m going with the stock setup with the A6 compressor. Now my truck was a factory AC truck to begin with so I got that going for me. But I have to buy most of the under hood components (brackets, compressor, condenser, receiver/dryer) It’ll still be...

WTB Big Block AC brackets for A6 compressor.

Never mind I got them off of Craigslist. Was $125 shipped. No did not have all the bolts but i dug around my box of bolts and got it mocked up. As I expected the rear lower bracket does not fit with the heddders on and the heads themselves are missing a boss (the rear most one above cylinder 3)...

    Stumped on oil leak

Well, I made a minor change but it seems to have fixed the issue. The valve covers I got have a 1-inch hole for a PCV vent. It would seem that 1'' filters are a bit less common, now you can get them on Amazon but I didn't do that. I went down to the auto parts store and got a 3/4'' filter...

    Stumped on oil leak

OK so I did the test again and I may have had the distributor clocked wrong yesterday. I also figured out a better setup for air fittings using the adaptor off the compression tester, a union, an air fitting, and hose clamps. Anyhow for today it would simply pop when I took the hose off but no...

    Stumped on oil leak

Yep, that's what I did. The roter cap was pointing at the vacuum advance which is where #3 is at I rigged up an air hose with some rubber line and the blow gun on the air compressor with some hose clamps and after I got it jammed into the spark plug just right I was getting air out the carb...

    Stumped on oil leak

.... Spoke too soon. I was feeling good about the truck so I drove it to work on a Friday a week or two ago. Everything was good on the way into work. But on the way home at every stoplight I was getting a small oil smoke cloud. Made it home thankfully but when I looked in the hood the oil...

Scores from DIY Parts Yards, Pull A Part, U Pull It etc

Got a few things the other day. Jeep steering shaft for the mod. Throttle and hood cables, exhaust heat shield 9though sadly it doesn’t fit my crewcab) Coolent overflow bottle, and a nice Pintle/2 5/16 combo hitch.

    Stumped on oil leak

I just wanted to thank everyone here. I got everything back together last week and test drove it and I think this problem is done at last. I’ve taken it around the neberhood a few times and took the wife out to get ice cream yesterday. No leaks. There is more to do to the truck but at least I...

    Stumped on oil leak

Yep It wasn't in the way. I got the oil pump done and put the pan and timing cover back on. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get it all back together.

    Stumped on oil leak

It’s raining here which is not ideal. And I pulled a muscle in my back last weekend still getting over that. But I wanted to get something done today so I drained the oil and removed the pan. Looks like the plastic sleeve on the oil pump shaft is AWOL pump itself looks fine but I’m going to put...

    1985 k30 starter

My truck is quite similar. 1985 K30 with a 454 big block with headers, stock height and stock tires. However I can get my starter in and out no problem. Got any pictures?

    Burning hei coils

Isn't there a thing where if the Tach signal wire gets grounded it'll burn the coil out? May be worth checking the whole run of the Tach signal wire, or at least both ends.

    Dually guys, need your opinions!

A quick Google search and I found a few. I got worried because I'll need to get a driver-side one at some point, I just haven't had the money for it yet. WARNING: I've never ordered from these places and I have no idea of their quality...

    Stumped on oil leak

I was joking about the cork gasket guys lol. I have a one-piece oil pan gasket on there now. However, I have another one coming because the RTV is in the gasket now and even if I dig it all out I'm not willing to do this AGAIN so I'll use a fresh gasket. I don't think i need the Sleave on the...

    Stumped on oil leak

Pulled the Harmonic Balancer. Not sure what to think now. The bottom of the oil pan gasket looks like it was pushed in a little bit in a few different areas. This may have been a contributing factor. Then on the timing cover itself a couple of the bolt holes look stretched/ not flat. Oil could...

WTB Big Block AC brackets for A6 compressor.

Wanted AC brackets for the A6 compressor to mount it to the 454 Big block. I know it's an old compressor and there are better options out there, but I'm trying to do this on the cheap (less than $1000) and I already have an A6 compressor and hoses for it. But I need brackets. From my...

What have you done to your square lately??

I may try the hose and ball bearing thing. Going to give these a shot first apparently the temperature ratings for these are written a little misleading. When they say 400 degrees they mean 400 degrees for a max of 5 minutes.

What have you done to your square lately??

Took care of another little issue today the vacuum plugs on my carburetor keep drying out and cracking so I finally got some silicone one’s supposedly rated for high temperature. Will have to wait and see if that’s true.
