May not been real rare at the time, but think about how many of them have survived this long and still original?

    Ignition locked up

I've had 3-4 with tumbler jam up while running. Pretty common thing for a peace of wore off key to fall down inside of it and lock up. At least it's only a 15 min fix if you have the lock plate tool

    86 GmC grille

There's 2 torex screws on bottom of each headlight door and the headlight doors will have to be removed. There is a screw hid behind them at bottom on both lower corners. There is also a screw in the middle I believe comes in from the bottom of the grille

    K30 Duramax - Body or Engine/Trans Swap?

I'd stick motor and trans in my K30. There's no reason to try and do body swap, way to much work for no gain over just leaving duramax truck alone. Plus the Dana 60 is best part of a k30 to start with other than the looks.

How to fix loose gm steering column

I know I've always just pulled the tilt colums out and sold them to people with never a complaint. There was a couple years that had the ignition switches that ran backwards, but as long as they used whole replacement colum they interchanged. Only other difference I knew was wipers on turn...

How to fix loose gm steering column

I've never heard of a difference in the auto colums from overdrive to no overdrive. I knew the indicator on dash was easy to change and the detects for each gear was in transmission. I may have to look into this some more.

    Getting rid of dual tanks.

Just take tank off. Or tape fuel door shut. I have several trucks with a missing tank. 81 up feed off drivers side and 73-80 feed off passenger side in default mode. On another question does anyone know trick to get dual tanks to run and feed together. I had a 78 c30 that ran off both tanks...

    C30 truck

Yea hot rod that's a $750-$800 bed easy here if not more. I just sold one of my few rust free cabs I had for $1200 complete takeoff with doors. My dream would be to go down south and buy rust free stuff. I've talked with a few on here before, but haven't found funds to get started since I buy do...

New starter/battery - still clicks on start?

We put 9 starters on one of our k30's in a row from autozone before we got a good one. It last less than a week and it went out. I can buy acdelco new ones at local supply house for $15 more than auto zoos so I've never went back to the zoo for starters since. By the way the new ac delco...

    school me on 454 swaps

I'm a big block man myself. seen It many times at the truck pulls, a stock 454 walk away from the mild built 350-383's. If your small block won't pull your boat tho, there is something wrong with it to start with. I've run more than one old chevy wrecker with a stock 350 in it and 4:10 gears...

Tow Trucks, Wreckers and Car Hauler Discussion

I buy some stuff at the wreck sale and its amazing how much is damaged by the recovery guys. I bought a 2004 Suzuki forenza yesterday that hit a tree light and the tow company to pull it out used the tin A frame on the rear instead of the tow hook. This caused the tire to rub and blew out rear...

Tow Trucks, Wreckers and Car Hauler Discussion

Well for one, there was a lady trying to kill a square with a Honda lol. Second, how did mower and load ride through crash and as soon as tow truck started to pull, it shifted. Third why did tow truck drag it forward off hood instead of picking back up and swinging it off to keep damage down?

Why does everyone dislike the 6.2 diesel?

I've had pretty good luck out of my trucks with the 6.2's. I have a M1028a2, a M1009, and one over in one of my K30's. they are pretty doggy, but for almost twice the milage of my big blocks there a good deal. I just pulled a mechanical non turbo 6.5 out of a 95 30 series van that was still...

Tow Trucks, Wreckers and Car Hauler Discussion

I can't get on police work here, It's all under contract and to get in the door takes half a million in equipment. I do a few motorclub calls, couple shops I tow for, most of my friends, my buddys car lot, and my junks. It's enough to keep 2 trucks running most the time except lately. I have...

1 piece drive shaft in a 3+3 dually??

    C30 truck

Yea I haul scrap straight to the shredder most of the time. I remember years ago being there and there was a 1979-1980 K30 single wheel fire truck top smashed off to the side. It had around 30k miles on it and big block. I tried everything to get it but couldn't. Sad part is I can junk about any...
