    Yeah, the one piece gaskets kits are the way to go. I used one on an old 78 302 Ford F100 a few months ago. Very easy to install with the engine in the vehicle. Leak free.

    The block casting number behind the left(driver) side head will let you know. You can take some silly putty or play doh and press it into the number if you can't see it with a mirror.

    If you have a pigtail for trailer lights, thats where I would check first for problems. Make sure all bulbs and fuses are good. Sounds like it might be the combination switch providing everything else checks out.

    Did you check the fuses with a test light or volt meter? It could possibly be the light switch or the combination switch. Does the radio turn off or does the light in it just go off? OOPS! Did't read all of the thread. I notice it has 2 pages instead of 1. I guess it was a newby mistake. Sorry.

    Should be an easy removal. Your new headers will eliminate any tubing to the manifolds. Just plug any other hoses, preferably where they hook to the intake. It's been a long time since I had a vehicle with a smog pump and my memory is kind of fuzzy to say the least.

    You could have a bad tranny or engine mount. Take a pry bar and check for movement of tranny. Pinion angle and tranny output shaft need to be parallel with each other also.
