    What pressure do you have the regulator set at? Why did you need the regulator? Is this a modified engine?

    What kind of distributor do you have in it. That being a 402 and the last year they made it was 72 it would have points if it's still the original. I had a 72 402 that had a simular problem and ended up changing the dizzy(HEI) to get it to run right.

    I think the brake switch unlocks the converter when depressed.

    This is a very informative link. I have mine set up according to the way it shifts and down shifts. I have been running it this way for 7 yrs. I think I will hook a gauge to it in the near future and see how well I've guessed at the set up.

    It will probably be cheaper to put the carb back on it. I hope that's a 4l60 trans. If it's a 4l60e, as mentioned, you will need a controller for it. If it's a 4l60 you will only need a tv cable.

    Did you end up checking the length with the lifters installed? I think the best way to get the length would be to install the new lifters on one cyl (int & ext). From here you would have to experiment with different settings of the push rod to give you the best valve geometry with the valve lash...
