    Electronic/HEI conversion

What are the positives of points over HEI? Thanks for your response.. I guess this means it's a fairly safe purchase? Are the HEI coils on top also something that can be bought at any auto parts store? Thanks, Mark

    Electronic/HEI conversion

73 C10, 327, auto.. Want to get rid of the points while I'm rewiring the truck... Two 'affordable' paths that I see... 1) a points to electronic conversion kit using the same distributor that is now in the truck.. such as the MSD system.. I would need to buy a coil as well if I went...

    TH350 to 700r4 swap

So the truck I bought and have started restoring is a 73c10, that someone at some point put a 327 in.. It currently has a TH350 in it, but I have future plans to add TBI and a 700r4 to get the gas mileage under control.. I have a friend that has a 700r4 mated to a aluminum transfer case that...

New (to me) Truck, needs rewire...

yeah, I found all that after the OP... I have also since noticed there are several wires stabbed into the fuse box, and I have a feeling that when I get into it, i will find that someone bypassed the headlight fuse, and that there is a short somewhere in that circuit and that is what caused...

New (to me) Truck, needs rewire...

Dude, the plastic is visibly melted.. You can see where it's not as high as it should be, and in some cases the plastic between the connectors is completely melted away.... The insulation is melted back on a bunch of them.. Heck, some of them have melted their insulation together so that two or...

    Where to get these parts....

A friend just told me there's a similar year suburban abandoned in the woods a couple miles from here that looks to have the heater parts I need, as well as the stuff to convert this truck back to Power Brakes... He grabbed the seats and rear axle from it... To bad he didn't see it sooner...

The images link to non existent files, but that is all useful info.. Do you know if the part numbers are stamped on the parts? At least I have a name for the parts now...

    Where to get these parts....

Are there any special 'necessary' valves or whatever in the parts I need? I'm wondering why I couldn't just build a plenum myself that connects to the upper plenum, and then use regular round duct to replace the piece on the left? Anyone done this (surely some have), and have pictures and...

    Installing hood release

Hmmm.. I guess if I want one, I'll have to make my own....

    Installing hood release

So there is no way to install a hood release or otherwise lock the hood without wrapping an ugly (and major hassle) cable lock or something through holes or whatever?? Also, which forum do I ask about security systems and what not?

    Where to get these parts....

The only part I've been able to find is for non AC versions, and it comes out from the main fan/diverter box (LMC has it for 30 bucks).. There's a valve of some kind in that port on A/C versions... The one I have comes out of the other plenum box of the two that I highlighted in red... The...

    Where to get these parts....

73 Chevy C10 (with A/C) I appear to be missing the two Heat/AC distribution plenums highlighted in red in the picture below... Also missing whatever valve or whatever that is that is coming out of the bottom of the plenum on the left (shown exploded) Any idea who might sell/source these...

    Installing hood release

'73 chevy C10 With the release that is accessed through the grill on the front, it's way to easy to open the hood and steal the battery and whatever... What is involved in changing the hood release so that it has to be done from inside the cab? Or are there other options? Is it...

    Emergency flasher switch?

I'm trying to make sure I have everything I need to rewire this truck (73 chevy C10)... Watching you tube videos, I know how to replace the turn signal harness/switch assy, and the ignition switch assy, but having trouble figuring out how the emergency flasher is wired... I notice that on...

Getting ready to order a bunch of stuff but looking for a cheaper source

From who, rock auto? How? I went ahead and placed my order without all the sockets... I'll just leave enough slack in the wires to re-splice in new ones later.....

Getting ready to order a bunch of stuff but looking for a cheaper source

Getting ready to order a bunch of stuff from LMC Truck, but looking for a cheaper source for all the various lamp sockets... Planning to order an EZ Wire harness kit for my 73 C10 in a couple days, and wanted to replace most all the switches and bulb sockets while I'm at it.. Took all...
