    Trailer hitch recommendations

I’d like to add a trailer hitch to my truck. 1987 GMC regular cab with 8 foot bed. Is there one that allows me to keep my spare tire under the truck and does not require drilling new holes into the frame? Not planning on doing any heavy duty work - pulling small trailer with Allis-Chalmers...

I’m interested. How much would you like for them?

    Bumper guards

I’m looking for bumper guards for my ‘87 GMC. I know there are new ones for sale on various websites, but the prices are hard to swallow. Anybody got a good set that I won’t have to sell a kidney for?

    Tailgate panel black outline

My aluminum tailgate panel (‘87 GMC) is in very good shape, but the black outline around the perimeter of the panel is missing in a couple places (see photo). Is the black border painted on or is it black tape/decal? I’d like to just patch the small missing areas, but want to do it similarly...

    Leaf springs for 87 V1500

I was planning to stay at original height. My square is 4WD and I’m short. Don’t really like the look of side steps, so I can’t make the truck too high.

    Fuel injection emblem?

Nope. Still not having much luck. It’s not exactly urgent, but I’d like to have one just to make my truck “complete.”

    Leaf springs for 87 V1500

I’m looking at replacing the leaf springs (front and rear) for my ‘87 GMC. It has a 350 and is a half-ton single cab. Anybody know the original weight ratings and / or have a recommended source for these? I plan to do the work myself, so cost not a huge concern.

    Fuel injection emblem?

Just bumping this back up a little. Anyone come up with one of these emblems? Based on the info above, I even searched Pontiac forums without much luck.

    Fuel injection emblem?

That’s the one! Apparently goes on the left side on a Chevy and the right side on a GMC.

    Fuel injection emblem?

Does anyone have an extra “fuel injection” emblem for the tailgate of my 1987 GMC? I don’t mind paying a fair price and know that LMC has them for about $60. Just figured I’d try to find an OEM and stick to this community that’s been so helpful in my adventure.

Low oil pressure but engine runs great

Going to close the loop again and update everyone on my problem here. You can read my initial post, but basically checked everything I knew to check, put in a new sender, and changed the oil. I finally got a good manual gauge and plugged it into the port for the pressure sender next to the oil...

Low oil pressure but engine runs great

I had assumed my oil pressure gauge was just wrong, but maybe not… Recent purchase of 1987 GMC V1500 with 350 engine. Other than paint, nearly everything is original with 114,000 original miles. Engine has always run quietly for me. No valve train noise, etc. Oil pressure gauge usually...

Where do I get OEM battery cables?

I’d happily settle for cables that just don’t have the butt connectors. Would like to have ACDelco parts like that, but seems to be impossible so far. Thanks to everyone that responded. Looks like some good options for me to consider.

Where do I get OEM battery cables?

I’m having a terrible time trying to find “original” battery cables for my 1987 V1500 with the original 350 engine. I need the negative ground cable, but would love to find both. To be clear, I don’t want the generic ACDelco cables that I have to splice into the existing body ground (or the...

Dual tank fuel gauge makes no sense.

Just to close the loop here: To review, my truck would show me the fuel level in the left tank only, regardless of which tank was selected. The switch inside the cab correctly switched the fuel pumps, which I verified while the truck was running and by accessing the testing wire in the relay at...

What is this hose under my truck bed?

What is this? Or maybe what did it used to be? I was under my truck making sure the spare tire was inflated and I noticed this hose hanging down from the center of the bed. It’s capped at one end and looks to be cut off at the other. Not attached to anything, but held in place by a very...

Where do I fine starter cable and other wires?

I need a new POSITIVE battery cable / solenoid cable for my 1987 GMC V1500. I’ve searched the internet and don’t come up with anything that looks like the original. Anybody know the AC Delco part number? Would also be ok with other brand if good quality. Apparently there are other ground or...

Anybody have a jack set for an ‘87 I could buy?

I know this is the wrong place, but I’m impatient and trying to get my ‘87 GMC as complete as possible. For unknown reasons, I am missing the 2-piece crank for the jack, the lug wrench, and all the mounting brackets for them. The jack itself is in good working order and mounted correctly...

Dual tank fuel gauge makes no sense.

It doesn’t read “over full” like what happens when you disconnect the ground wire. It’s constantly showing me the volume of fuel in the left tank, including the small fluctuations that happen when you come to a stop, accelerate, etc. it runs on both tanks just fine, but never switches to show...

Dual tank fuel gauge makes no sense.

Before changing the selector valve, the gas gauge did exactly the same thing. It would only read the left tank, regardless of which tank was selected. I replaced the switch and valve because switching to the right tank immediately made the truck die (not sputtering out of fuel - instant shut...

Dual tank fuel gauge makes no sense.

Posted before with no replies. Someone take pity on me. My dual fuel tanks switch appropriately and both pumps work well. Switch in the cab and selector valve are new (replaced by me). However, fuel level reads only from left tank regardless of which tank is selected. How is this possible...

Dual tanks work, but maybe not switching the gauge?

I’ve recently replaced the fuel selector valve on my 87 GMC R1500. Also replaced the switch inside the cab. I’m pretty sure the tanks switch, because I can hear a change in tone under the truck when I select the right tank (like the right pump makes a slightly different noise). However...
