    The aluminum is cracked all the way across over to the nipple where the filter screws on, should I get another bypass adapter or get one with no bypass so it all goes through the filter? Oil gets dark quick and I’m wondering if the bypass is sticking open?

    The filter isn’t really leaking anymore. I think that was just residual left from when the other one blew out. It’s back to its normal rear main leak and timing cover leak.

    Took the truck on a 200 mile trip, the first 100 miles I filled it and only needed 12 gallons. Still not the best at 8.3mpg but it’s a heck of a lot better than 4.1.

    When I changed the valve cover gaskets I cranked the engine over and watched each valve open and close. They all looked to be moving the same amount.

    In neutral if i floor it it will shoot up to 7k, at least that’s what my tach says. It’s a sunpro power curve tach. It doesn’t feel peppy under a load on the highway. I know the engine is worn out, oil pressure isn’t great, burns a little oil on a hot start, has blowby.

    It smells like it’s running a little rich at idle, but over idle it doesn’t seem like it’s running rich at all. Has a slight miss when not fully warmed up at around 1000 rpm but goes away at anything above that. Engine revs up to 7k rpm no problem. I’m going to try to find a number on that...

    Vacuum advance isn’t doing anything when i put a hose in and suck on it. Feels like it’s losing the vacuum
