What would cause the gas gauge to peg past full?

Think of the single post on top as the positive and the wire coming off the housing is the negative.

I just corrected my above post as I had it backwards. Sorry for any confusion.

    Fuel gauge

Where does your gauge point? 3 o'clock is an open circuit (broken wire/connection) and 9 o'clock is a grounded out unit.

    Tailgate help

The one I pulled was held on with double sided foam tape, like they use for trim. Reinstalled it with the same and seems to work fine.

What have you done to your square lately??

Added a headache rack, just because. Replaced the fuel switching valve and headlight switch since I was having trouble with both.

Can you change the fan speed switch to a dial switch?

Mine has a stripped out A.C. factory system. I just pulled a factory non- AC control panel, cables, and inside plenum as a full unit. Actually easy to swap out . And you can use all of the original wiring.

    White spots?

Just a guess, but it looks like your clear coat is failing. If that is the case, you can't buff or sand it out. Paint guys (not me) may have some suggestions.

Break booster vacuum to front of intake??? Will it work?

Could be wrong, but the booster should be fine as long as the vacuum port use large enough. The only possible issue I can think of is leaning out the cylinder that the front port is in, assuming you are saying it is in a runner and not right at the base of the carb in front.

Front and rear diff/transfer drain and fill

Here is an axle reference. Front is probably a Dana 44, and rear corporate 14 bolt. I believe Dana asked will usually have the model embossed on the center carrier section webbing (44,60,70). https://ck5.com/forums/resources/axle-identification-chart.10/ Transfer case, find one that looks...

What would cause the gas gauge to peg past full?

If you already hooked up the new sending unit ground wire, try a jumper wire from the tank\sending unit to a good clean ground. I have a 20 foot wire with alligator clips on it so that I can reach from the negative battery post to anywhere on my truck. That way I know for sure that I have a...

What would cause the gas gauge to peg past full?

It usually means you have an open circuit. Could be a bad ground, broken wire, bad sender (I had a new one for my old 68 that was bad from the factory)...

    Fuel gauge and valve questions

thanks for the help. I'm not hooked up to the gauge yet as I'm working my way forward from the switch to the valve and then the gauge. The switch is working, but I can get the sender ohm reading through the valve. Normally I would conclude a bad valve, but since I'm having the same problem...

    Fuel gauge and valve questions

Thanks for the suggestions. I have continuity from the weather pack to the firewall through the gauge wire. I'm not sure if I will accomplish anything jumping a or C to the B terminal. It should be switched inside the valve, at least my understanding is that when it switches tanks, it will...

    Fuel gauge and valve questions

Hello all, I have been trying to troubleshoot my system to get my gauge to work. I have an 83 K20 with dual tanks. I have sender readings at both the A and C connections on the weather pack connector. When I plug it into the pollack valve, I don't have a reading at the B wire to the gauge. I...

    Heater Control Cables

Here is a pic of the block off plate for the ac holes. The blue square is approximately where you would cut the air supply hole in the firewall. The pink is where the factory wiring harness comes through. Get the entire harness from the switch to the fan motor. The green is a bastard of a...

    Heater Control Cables

It is a simple swap. Just get the entire heat only system and it just bolts in. When I got mine, I left the heater controls attached to the inside heater box. No losing parts. Then just pull the fan box from the engine compartment with the wiring and you are golden. A couple of suggestions...

    Heater Control Cables

Here is the non ac setup I have. If you are going to use the a.c. panel and inside box, you're will be significantly different. I believe they are controlled by vacuum lines. There were a couple of recent threads on them I will try to find and post a link. The top control cable controls the...

How much weight will a 1/2 ton really handle?

While many of us have done it, this is one of those "just because you can doesn't mean you should" things. Liability wise, huge amounts of bad juju possible.

    Heater Control Cables

I can post some tomorrow if no one does before then. My 83 was originally ac, but it was gutted. I just got a complete assembly from a 73 (control panel, cables, inside airbox assembly all connected, and the fan and metal housing from the engine compartment) and it bolted in easily.
